New species on land are found all of the time and some of them are large. Species that were thought to be extinct are discovered. The gorilla was not discovered until 1900 although the natives told stories about them and scientists had been looking for them for about 70 years. No bones were discovered and only the stories of the natives kept them looking. Does this mean that bigfoot exists? No, it doesn't but scientist have hair samples taken in the Pacific Northwest that are from an unknown primate. I spend a lot of time up there and many locals claim to have seen them. I don't think they are lying but are they correct about what they saw? I will admit that I am very curious and I keep an open mind.....

Maybe if you lazy *******s would get up a little earlier we could put this argument to rest.

I love that you have absolutely no hangups about posting completely untrue things as fact in the hope that you aren't called out on it. You're a ballsy troll, I'll give you that.

I don't know when it was discovered exactly but the gorilla was classified as a species in the mid 1800s

Dead gorillas were brought to London, by a French American, in the mid-1800's and sold to various museums. Imagine their suprise to learn the species that they had bought and put on display would not exist for another 40-50 years. I'm sure they'd have gotten more visitors with that information.

No but I think we could find some bones of a ******* animal that is supposedly walking the Earth right now.
You don't see the contradiction in the reasoning?

I'm not saying I believe in Bigfoot, it's just a little weird admitting that we haven't found all fossil records, and then saying you don't think it's real because fossils haven't been found.

why 5,000 years if they're here NOW?

I'm pretty sure we've found remains of all USA-dwelling large primates who have lived here in the last 50 years, many times over.

8 feet tall & 400 lbs should be findable, dontcha think?

I'm asking from 5,000 years until now.

8ft and 400 lbs is rather small when you're talking about millions upon millions of potential square miles to cover. If you think every inch of the Pacific Northwest has not only been stepped on, but combed over for fossils, then I don't know what to say. A needle in a haystack would probably be easier to find.

We find thousands of new land species a year.

This study says there could be 8.7 million species on our planet, and we've only found found and cataloged 1.3 million.

Not using it for it's accuracy, but we haven't even stratched the surface of what really is out there.

I mean, there are actual civilizations of people we haven't even "discovered" yet. They just found some back in 2011 in the Amazon. We live on a HUGE planet.

No, a person who claims to be a scientist, but has no training in science, also claims to have DNA results. He further claims that they reveal that they are from an unknown species. This non-scientist has refused to share the actual data and even refused to to share any of the sample for any reputable, trained scientist to test.

Substantial claims require substantial evidence, and science is never established by press releases.

Those turned out to "just" be large chimps. Still a cool find though.

Which was first discovered in 1996, after they found a skull. The article is about when they first laid eyes on a live one.

Yes, these sighting stretch over almost every continent. While modern man has adapted quicker and more rapidly does not mean that another species of man/ape couldn't have adapted to us seeing our destructive ways and general fear of bigger predators. Stay out of sight in the deep wilderness where most men never venture. Some believe there could possibly be underground caverns that go far and wide over the northern hemisphere of the earth. Many men don't go exploring to that extent these days. Either way they don't want to be seen and can probably smell a yankee from a mile away so that'd make it easier to stay hidden.
Exactly. A bigfoot's sense of smell probably so keen that it would be quite easy to stay hidden. More intelligent than an Ape, probably not as intelligent as a human. Probably make for a pretty formidable search in the wild.

I wonder what all these skeptics think of the foot print castings that have been analyzed by crypo-zoologists and various university zoologly experts.

Anyone heard of the Melba Ketchum paper/"research"?

    Laughable.

Let me say this: there is absolutely no peer-reviewed scientific evidence that leads one to believe that "bigfoot" exists.

Blu is sorta right... Mountain Gorillas were discovered in 1902. Gorillas in general were officially discovered in the mid 1800's... Of course they had been seen many times before that but that is when physical proof came into the picture. Sightings alone don't necessarily constitute 'discovered'.

Perhaps I shouldn't have gotten lazy and qualified my answer a little more: I don't think there are any land based, large, unique animals that we have not discovered yet. That doesn't include new species of gorillas or something that if I saw it I would just be like, "Oh, gorilla. Neat. I'll stay the hell away from him."

One time we were out doing research and camping and we had a sighting when one of the campers thought he saw a Sasquatch out in the mist near the lake. It was hard to see but we could clearly see something in the mist. Turned out it was gorillas.... Gorillas in the mist...
