Default Any Problems Like This With A Jersey?

Okay, so I bought this jersey a few weeks ago. I have worn it twice, and washed it the same number of times. I have never had a problem like this before. The number looks like it was folded up and now looks gross, losing color. I own many jerseys, and have never had a problem like this before. Attached are photos of this jersey and my oldest one for comparison. The Danny Granger one was purchased at the circle center mall store, so that should give you an idea of how old it is. It is in very good shape for at its age, and all of my jerseys are very well taken care of. But I have never seen a problem such as this before. Have you guys seen anything like this before? What would you say I should do? Thanks!

Always wash your jerseys inside out and never put them in the drier. Just let them air dry.

I'm well aware of how to wash them. That's how I've kept mine so nice. The Danny one is almost 5 years old, but the Hill one is only a few weeks old, and they are treated with the same care.

Just trying to be helpful. The only time I've ever had a jersey do anything remotely like that is in high school when my mom accidentally dried one.

I've never dried one. Ever. Well, since I accidentally ruined my Reggie printed one about 10 years ago. I'm so mad right now. I'm going to try to return it tomorrow, but I'm not getting my hopes up. They'll probably tell me to take better care of my jerseys, but that's why I took the picture of the Danny Granger one that I've had since 2008. It's been worn hundreds of times and it's in perfect shape.

That sucks man. It could be just the type of fabric with the new retro jerseys. I'm guessing you already use cold water?

Yup. Definitely use cold. And I have a jersey with the new fabric too. I got this this year. The only problem I've had with it is slight fraying of the numbers, but that is no big deal at all. That's just normal wear and tear. Here's a picture of it:

Take it back. Only a couple weeks old.

I plan on it tomorrow. I actually have the original tags and receipt, because I never bothered to take the FSI scarves out of the bag, just threw the bag on the door knob.
