    Was at Disney the other day and sat on a shuttle from our hotel. It was a older guy who I set next to and had a superbowl ring on his hand. Turns out it was a high school football coach of Brett Farves. What does this have to do with the ABA you ask. The same guy was Wendell Ladners cousin. I'll let some of our other posters tell you new bees who Wendell is.

    Killed in a plane crash in NY City while playing for the Nets. Teamate of Dr. J. Remembered best for flying thru a glass water cooler while diving for a loose ball (was that as a Ky Colonel??) ALWAYS gave maximum effort.

    I petitioned ABA/NBA to name a 100% effort award after him.

    Yes. That was while playing as a Colonel.

    And, the story has it that he had his leg sewn up with several stitches at half-time and returned to play the second half.

    I think he was only about 26 when the plane crashed. Does that sound right?
