Can't say I'm not suprised, just a little sad to see both go. I imagine Dwight will land somewhere on a 1 year and be done after that ala Jeff Saturday...Collie might go somewhere but i'm not sure.

    The correct decisions.

Freeney's time was well and truly up with the colts not sure how much he has left in the tank.

Collie just to injury prone and was time to move on from him
Counting down the days untill DJ Augustin's contract expires.

Yep, it was like one of the worst kept secrets out there. Especially Freeney as we all saw 3-4 defense wasn't suited to him at all. Good luck to him and thanks for your great service, Dwight. Have watched some old games of him and was/is an elite pass rusher.

Hate to see Freeney go as he was a favorite. The scheme and the money just don't fit the new direction.

Freeney was not injured often but they always seemed to come just when the team was poised to do something special (07 season, 09 SB). Even though he was not close to 100% in the 1st half I always thought his inability to play in the 2nd half of the 2009 SB impacted that game way more than the Garcon drop or the Saints on-side kick.

At least of equal importance to the other two, maybe more. Really hard to say. From a momentum standpoint, the Garcon drop was gigantic. He had a ton of open real estate ahead. Don't know that he would have scored, but certainly would have been around the red zone. IIRC, we were not only head, but still seemingly dictating the pace/tenor of the game at that point.

Yeah, it's a shame we didn't have a healthy Freeney chasing Brees. Football is just a cruel game with injuries.

This was a tough move, but the right one. Freeney will always be one of my favorite Colts ever. Loved watching that guy. I guess this means that we have just three players left from the 2006 championship team? Wayne, Mathis, and Vinatieri.

I know what you are saying. If Garcon makes that catch and pulls off one of his patented take no prisoners sprints for the end zone the outcome likely would have been different too. The second half was just so hard to watch with Brees camping in the pocket and completing easy 8-yard passes one after another.

It looks like Peyton has been recruiting Freeney to Denver. If the Broncos cut Dumervil as everyone expects them to, then I'd say there's a good chance that Freeney ends up there.

    From Feb 20:

Freeney said on Wednesday’s PFT Live that quarterback Peyton Manning already has begun the recruitment effort.

“He sent me a text and he just said, ‘Hey man, don’t worry, come play with me in Denver,” Freeney said. “I don’t know how serious it was but, you know, it’s good to hear some of your former teammates still follow you, they care and they want to see you succeed.”

    And from today:

While the Broncos have plenty of options, we’re told that Manning wants Freeney. Though Manning has no plan to make a power play, he has a way of getting his point across.
