At crunch time, I hate to say it, Gay owned him pretty well. Stats kind of lie to us all...
I said this in Peck's Odd Thought thread....but its funny how everyone has a short memory. The Raptors
game, PG didn't win on that last game winning shot when defending Gay.....but what happened a few weeks back when Gay was trying to score a game winning shot when he was on the Grizzlies? PG got the best of him and the Pacers won that game cuz of PGs defense on Gay. No matter how good a defender someone is....an above average scorer like Gay will have his day against anyone.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

I thought both Paul George and Lance gave an excellent defensive effort. But that was definitely a game where another long defender would have been a beautiful thing. Danny can defend Gay just fine, and Lance could have shut down DeRozen.

For defensive purposes along, it would have been nice to bring Danny back last night.
    He really doesn't.

Then he is never motivated because he is a mediocre defender at best..... ... James says that PG is better!!

Paul George was the primary defender on 14 of LeBron James' 25 plays Friday, and James had success on those plays. He was 7-for-10 when guarded by George, with five of those seven field goals coming inside 10 feet.
So, of course James would say that PG is better

James is shooting a good percentage against Paul, but you have to look at the rest of his stats to really appreciate how well Paul's defended him. In game 1 he had 4 assists and 7 turnovers... when's the last time James had nearly twice as many TOs as assists? Probably been a while. His rebounding numbers are down too. LB is gonna score at a high clip, but as long as Paul makes it tough on him and stops him from dominating other parts of the game he's doing a good job.

Don't you have any respect for anybody? Granger has carried this team for a few years now and you want to throw him under the bus !!!! I think he deserves more than that.

Totally agree. Gay actually surprised me that he got a clean look over Paul. But it's true. Great offense will beat the best defense out there.

    I did. Sorry about that.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

I have respect for what Danny did but the fact is that he has been replaced and he isn't going to get any better. I want him back. I want him back as a bench player and someone who finishes the game. If he won't accept that role, then let him move on because that just means he is a stumbling block for PG and Lance. Those days are over in my book..... ...

He also "carried" the team to a losing record most of those years. Granger isn't a superstar or even a star player. He is very good and declining. ...

In my ideal little world in my head, Granger starts by coming off the bench.

“People talk about how quiet he [McKey] is, but he’s really been helpful. He gives a lot of insight to players in how to guard certain teams and what their weaknesses are. The whole team listens to him, and it makes my job a lot easier. Having players like him is what pro basketball is all about for me.” —Larry Brown

ESPN has some updated quotes on Granger's return. Nothing to bank on but Wells thinks it's likely he'll return on Wed. Vogel says it could be Wed. or could be after the all star break.

I don't think Gay really owned George by any means. George defended that last second shot about as well as you can without fouling, Gay simply made the tough shot. That's basketball.

As for Granger, I wouldn't mind maybe seeing them use him as a 6th man for his first couple of games to kind of work him back into the swing of things.

I think the Bulls should play Derrick Rose off the bench the rest of the year. They've got real chemistry going and it would be stupid to disrupt it.

Not a hint of green there, eh? I think I agree. It's almost March and Derrick could definitely disrupt things because he will change the way everyone plays. I don't think Granger has that type of impact. I expect Danny to start by April at latest...although I'm hoping he comes off the bench.

and he's a downright DOG defensively! No way the Bulls would be this good defensively with Rose in the starting lineup, let him SPARK the BENCH

West is on Sports Xtra right now. He disagrees.

He's also smiling more than he ever has on the floor.
