    Default Houston intrested in Granger

    http://www.foxsportsohio.com/02/04/1...21&feedID=3725

    • Houston is one team reported to have a keen eye on Indiana forward Danny Granger. The Pacers aren’t totally against keeping the 29-year-old forward, who has missed all of the season with a knee injury. But following the emergence of All-Star Paul George, they are taking and making exploratory calls.

I read this earlier. I doubt they are making exploratory calls. They need Granger's offense, and who fits better than he does? No doubt they are listening though.

    Interesting.

Houston doesn't really have the pieces to get a trade done though. I'd take their 1st, Terrence Jones and even Royce White. Not crazy about what they have though. No viable option at upgrading our point guard.
Lance + Starting SG = Awesome

    Now really free Lance!

Granger's contract makes him very tough to trade to Houston unless they are including Jeremy Lin.

I'd give them Danny and multiple firsts for Harden, but since that won't happen, its not even really worth discussion.

First choice is to keep Danny, but looking at Houston's roster, I'd like Jones, Patterson, Delfino and their 2014 1st rounder.

Oh, they'd have to take Green.

Since Houston's under, they can take more, right?

Definitely not sold on Parsons. His defense is very weak. Love his scrappiness, bball IQ, length, and stroke, but the boy needs to eat some cheeseburgers.

Not necessarily. The ESPN Trade Machine says that Houston is $6 million under the cap, so they could absorb a chunk of Granger's contract and send back less salary.

So hypothetically, Houston could trade Delfino, Patterson, Parsons and Aldrich (roughly $8.5 millon in salaries, according to the trade machine) for Granger ($13 million) and it would work.

There's literally no way a Granger to Houston trade could happen unless Houston gave up one of either Lin, Asik or Harden (which they're not going to do).

The only other possibilities are 4 for 1 deals that would net the Pacers a mix of players like

    Patterson
    Parsons
    Douglas
    Delfino

So there are ways to make the numbers work, but this would be a clear case of 4 quarters not equaling a dollar.

According to the trade machine this can work, http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=abewofy

This. It is safe to say that 3 for 1 or 2 for 1 or 4 for 1 trades in the NBA are always favoring the team getting the 1. There are exceptions, but not very many. Trading Granger without getting back a player better than Danny is a dumb move.

A better trade is trading Danny and Lance or David and Danny or Roy and Lance for a LeBron or Dwight Howard or a Kevin Love. Make sure the guy coming back is better than the guys going out.

If they wanted to get a 3rd team involved. Something like this would work (although I don't condone it)...

Houston gets their man, Granger. Washington gets out of the final 2 years of Ariza's deal, and also get an expiring deal (Aldrich). Pacers get back a defensive stopper, and a scoring punch for the bench in Douglas.

Yea but Trade ideas cant be insane. If we trade Granger, we are not getting someone better than he is at the current time.

Ok guys, we all know there are ways to make it happen, but let's be realistic. We aren't trading for half of Houston's roster, which consists of nothing but average to below average players.

I wouldnt take anyone from Houston for Granger. I know a lot of people would mention Harden, but IMO I think Harden would put a damper with the chemistry we currently have. We have no selfish players on offense - Harden would ruin that.

Even with Granger back, he has a good post game (for a SF) and is an excellent shooter.

I would turn down anything Houston would offer (obviously within reason)
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

Wouldn't we then have to cut 3 players from the Pacers and pay their salary for the rest of the year? Could we send 3 to the Mad Ants for the rest of the year? Plums, Green and Ben? Maybe a nice move for the future, but aren't we more "win now"?

I would never trade Granger for multiple lesser players. That is not a formula for a good trade in the NBA, almost never.

If we trade Granger we have to get back a young talented SG/wing who can fit in with our lineup. Houston does not have one.

I feel like people feel Chemistry is the most important issue when it comes to the success of the team. If you have the opportunity to bring in players like Harden, you do. (Not that we have any shot at Harden)

Parsons is more than average the guy is averaging 14 and 5.8 if he is included in the deal you have to think about it.
