It's amazing how many thugs we had on this team at one point.
And people still kept picking fights with them!

The remedy for what Knight was doing to keep Artest tangled up in the old days would have been a hard shove by Artest to the upper torso of Knight with Knight either flopping to the floor or deciding to engage Artest physically with the officials then stepping in to break things up and, depending on the players involved, either call a double T, double fouls, or simply call a foul on one of the two players and a make-up call on the other end with a phantom travel or off the ball foul.

This was not JO levelling a plainly dweeby fan caught up in the emotion of the moment. It was not Kermit Washington nearly killing Rudy Tomjohnavich. It was not Ron going into the stands and grabbing fans by their shirt collars, or SJax punching fans in a misguided attempt to have Ron's back. It was not even very rough fighting for position on the interior (though Knight did one heck of a job battling Artest despite being clearly being at a physical disadvantage by using his quickness and savvy to keep Artest from further involvement in the play).

Flagrant? Technically, yes. But, calling what Ron did there flagrant is ridiculous in my view. He actually showed a lot of restraint, especially given his history.
oh so because he didn't throw a haymaker its ok.... a punch is a punch, and its supposed to be a flagrant 2.

At least Artest didn't go over and lay down on top of the broadcasters table.

That could have sure made things interesting...

That wasn't a punch. Did he hit him in the face? Yes. I think he was trying to push him in the chest but Knight leans his head in and catches Ron's opened hand in the chin. He deserved a technical but really nothing more.

Knight should've been whisteled for a foul. Once again the refs failed to do their job correctly in Detroit.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

Exactly...and that was not a punch....its amazing how peoples hatred for RonRon influences their opinions on things like this...If that was Paul George not one person would be saying that was a punch and everyone would be pointing out how obvious it was that Knight was being a total punk.

First off, I agreed with the call. That wasn't really a punch, but it was a blow to the head. No ejection warranted.

Second, at worst that was a double technical as far as knight is concerned. You'd have to be taking crazy pills to believe that he was actually the instigator there, or you are really, really reaching for a way to defend MWP.

That was Wade-esque of RonRon. Subtle yet intentional.

I'm surprised he didn't get ejected for that.
If he were on another team besides the struggling Lakers, then he would have, but the Lakers need every hand on deck to get back into the playoff race and TPTB dont want to jeopardize that...
