Boston surely doesn't intend to try it again with this same unit next year, do they? They weren't exactly setting the league on fire when they were healthy.
No way they try again next year, it would probably take Rondo Derick Rose recovery time to come back next year and Pierce and KG are not getting any younger.

I'm not. Sullinger on his worst day of the year, even with a bad back, is a more value asset than Plumlee. At least Sullinger would have seen court time with us; I'm beginning to wonder if Plumlee will be paid his entire time with us to ride the bench and/or play for the Mad Ants.

I couldn't have said it any better.

Was his the back the reason he dropped in the draft? I don't remember.

Guess his case of bulging dicks was too severe.

Not true at all. If nothing else, at least the Pacers don't have to pay a butt ton of money for surgery for a player who is constantly injured. Even if Chumlee rides the pine, at least he can practice with the team and is much cheaper.
yeah, me too. i get a feeling sullinger will never become the player he might have. back problems really seem to rob a guy of his explosive lift as much as any injury if not more.
the fact that this has already happened to him is not good news for them or him.
the johnson and pollard cases are good examples and there are some others that escape my mind but yeah, when it happens, they usually don't come back as the same guy. usually they seem to have about half the lift they used to.

Doesn't players have health insurance? If so, the Pacers aren't paying.

    Love the Chumlee name!!

Lots of surgeries have advanced so much that it really just means you are losing time spent in recovery.

But back surgeries seem to be something that still makes you wonder what you will have left afterwards. I still think of Larry Johnson and Scot Pollard as examples, and now Dwight Howard.

Has anyone come back from significant back surgery and been essentially the same player?
Danilo Gallinari has come back pretty strong from back surgery. He missed his whole rookie year due to the injury.

Didnt Antonio Davis have back surgery when he was with the Pacers and return strong? Seems like I remember him missing a significant amount of time due to bulging disc one year.

The following players were injured for the season during the month of January:

    Lou Williams
    Jordan Hill
    Rajon Rondo
    Glen Davis
    Jared Sullinger

An All-star and 4 key contributors. And that doesn't even mention a former MVP (Derrick Rose) and two former All-Stars (Andrew Bynum and Danny Granger) haven't played a game this year. And guys like Kevin Love, Amare Stoudemire, and Dirk Nowitzki were out significant periods of time.

Just seems like a lot of injuries this season. Maybe it's just me though.

Don't forget Love, Howard, and a lot of players in Minny.

i remember reading back in early jan, howrd was out with what was reported as a torn labrum. they said he would miss about 10 days. but i read the injury sometimes takes surgery follwed by 1-2 month's in a sling. he has since re-injured the shoulder at least a couple times since.
i suspect he needs surgery but is being stubborn- this will come back to haunt him the rest of the season.

Yep AD had a bulging disc problem, he had an outpatient procedure and missed about a month and was back better than ever. Seems rare though, players with back issues seem to have long term problems, especially big guys.

Ricky Rubio, Steve Nash, Eric Gordon, and John Wall all missed big chunks of time (and all of them are on my fantasy team).

Sideshow Bob is out, too. Dang, that is a lot of injuries.

So KG is going to want to 8-25 the rest of the season if they deal Pierce?
He'll waive it if they trade Pierce first, but he'll invoke the no-trade clause as long as PP is still there. KG has a lot of Celtic pride and probably doesn't feel a need to ring chase on another team's coattails considering he already has his ring.

I'd imagine he would simply retire before being traded.
