Default Jared Sullinger out for season

    Adrian Wojnarowski@WojYahooNBA
Celtics rookie Jared Sullinger will miss the rest of the season with a back injury, league sources tell Y! Sports. He will need surgery.

Celtics are in even more trouble. Sullinger has had injury issues in the past too, so I could see this lingering.

Wasn't his back the big question mark surrounding him on draft night?

I dont see how boson doesn't fold up the tent and start dealing pierce and Garnett.

Holy cow. The hits keep on coming. If they weren't already in fire sale mode, this is gonna push them there.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

The fact that it's going to require surgery is huge. Glad he was off the board so we weren't tempted to draft him.
Still sad we didn't get Draymond Green though

It is my understanding that Garnett has a no trade clause. Which is too bad, he would make a nice 3rd big for the B&G.

So KG is going to want to 8-25 the rest of the season if they deal Pierce?

I'm not. Sullinger on his worst day of the year, even with a bad back, is a more value asset than Plumlee. At least Sullinger would have seen court time with us; I'm beginning to wonder if Plumlee will be paid his entire time with us to ride the bench and/or play for the Mad Ants.

If they trade piece, he'll waive it. Trust me.

Lots of surgeries have advanced so much that it really just means you are losing time spent in recovery.

But back surgeries seem to be something that still makes you wonder what you will have left afterwards. I still think of Larry Johnson and Scot Pollard as examples, and now Dwight Howard.

Has anyone come back from significant back surgery and been essentially the same player?

I'll e-mail you the list of players on my fantasy team if you promise me that you won't mention wanting to trade for ANY of them.

This is why he fell so far. Boston took a risk, perhaps not a terrible one at that draft slot, but it bit them afterall. Boston needs to trade Pierce and Garnett and just tank.

Unfortunately for them Bradley is injury prone too, and he's their most promising young asset other than Rondo.

Boston surely doesn't intend to try it again with this same unit next year, do they? They weren't exactly setting the league on fire when they were healthy.

Yeah, I know Doc wanted to keep the group together but it's over. It was over when Ray Allen bolted, but Rondo/Sully going down are the cue for the fat lady to sing. I wonder where KG/Pierce will go.

Was his the back the reason he dropped in the draft? I don't remember.

So do they both have no trade clauses? And the players can waive those if they choose to, correct?

I'm wondering what contenders would be able to snag them?

I don't think there's any way BOS sends them to LAL or Mia...

Not true at all. If nothing else, at least the Pacers don't have to pay a butt ton of money for surgery for a player who is constantly injured. Even if Chumlee rides the pine, at least he can practice with the team and is much cheaper.
