Default Peter Vescey tweet mentioning a KG for Hibbert trade

Didn't see a thread, couldn't find any info on a search, so here is Peters tweet:

    Peter Vecsey ‏@PeterVecsey1
Boston source labels KG-Hibbert trade report (close to going down) as sheer pretend. C's did receive call f BK re KG. Kris & MarShon, no way

What is he saying? That the report of a KG/Roy trade being close to going down is pretend? Or is he saying a trade is close to going down?

    Regardless...speculate away.

If true, it just got the Vecsey kiss of death.

He makes Indiana a better team this year, but aside from that.....what the ****?

Someone is trolling you guys. Either it's vescey, or it's Walsh.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

Pure BS. KG doesn't win the Pacers a championship this year (neither does Hibbert). At least with Hibbert, you know you won't have to look for a new starting center in two years --and that's assuming KG doesn't pout, retire, or immediately demand a trade elsewhere.

Vescey throws a lot of crap against the wall. That doesn't mean it's going to stick.

I don't think KG would approve anyway. He has a no-trade clause.

It's not gonna happen, but if the Pacers traded Hibbert and West (expiring) for Pierce and Garnett (3 years left!) we would win the championship this year. I don't even know if I would like winning with those guys. They're Celtics.

He flat out said in his first tweet that it was "sheer pretend". That's pretty clear to me.

I didn't think it was obscure either, but I could see where people might get thrown off by the parenthetical phrase and lose sight of the meaning of the actual sentence.

Pete's a great writer in the form of a column. Gives you enough context to get his subtleties and humor. In this case, twitter may not be his friend. He's clearly calling somebody else's far-fetched rumor as B.S. He's not saying its his rumor, he saying that somebody else claims "Hibbert-Garnett (Jay's note: ) is close to going down" and that's just fantasy. He goes on to indicate who the Celtics are actually talking to, and note that it is not Indiana.

    That's all.

(Do we need to begin re-reminding everyone around here that Vecsey and Walsh have been best friends for longer than many of us on PD have been alive. Walsh may occasionally play Vecsey as a mouthpiece and may do it to create misinformation. But no doubt about it, when Walsh is around the Pacers then Vecsey should be paid close attention to. We still have to guess whether Donnie is telling him fact or fiction, but Pete is unlikely to say anything about the Pacers without calling Donnie first.)
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

Nothing is guaranteed, but G.Hill/PG/Pierce/Granger/Garnett is a pretty potent starting unit.

Yeah, Ticket would rather retire a Celtic than come here.

Speaking from a purely hypothetical perspective.....would you consider KG for West as a "not all-in but more of a BIG Bet" type of move?

I know that KG is the type of Player that is a top seller at the Jerk-Store ( right up there with George Costanza ), but he's also the type of Player that you hate to have on the other Team but love to have on your Team.
Ash from Army of Darkness: Good...Bad...I'm the guy with the gun.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

    ***hole.
    He's a winner too.

Who cares if he's an a-hole? It's not like any fan is going to spend time with the guy. He is the type of guy who is loved by his teammates and hated by opponents. I'd love to have him (Generally speaking, not for Hibbert of course).

I do believe Vescey broke the Gerald Green to Indiana signing this summer (whoo)... I think that may be the only one I remember him being right about.
"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.
