Default IND / TOR / BRK

Well, this works in the trade machine:

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine

    Toronto receives:

    Kris Humphries from BRK

    Mirza Teletovic from BRK

    Brooklyn receives:

    Gerald Green from IND

    Andrea Bargnani from BRK

    Indiana receives:

    Jonas Valanciunas from TOR

    Tornike Shengelia from BRK

    Why for Toronto:

They get away from Bargnani's contract and can start their rebuild earlier (Humphries is an expiring next year).

    Why for Brooklyn:

They get some depth for a playoff push. Bargnani offers scoring off the bench and Green is an upgrade over Stackhouse.

    Why for Indiana:

The presence of Valanciunas / Mahinmi / Shengelia makes Tyler expendable. So, we receive two great prospects while adding some financial flexibility in order to resign West and Granger. We're going to need those rookie deals in the future.
Tonight, all flags must burn, in place of steeples.
Autonomy must return into the hands of the people.

Toronto isn't giving up Valanciunas for that cheap, he was a top 5 pick.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

In general, I agree with that. Personally, I wouldn't do it if I was Toronto.

But the thought of getting out of Bargnani's contract and start the rebuild could be appealing enough for Toronto.

Toronto can amnesty Bargnani. I don't know that they'd even do that deal without Valanciunas.

It is a bit weird that an intelligent man/boy like you thinks that he can make a Gerald Green for Jonas Valanciunas work for all teams involved, if I may say so.

Brooklyn needs defense much more than they need offense. They are not a bad rebounding team, but they allow their opponent to grab a lot of rebounds and that's with Humphries.

JV is a 7 footer without bad hands, without low IQ and without low mobility. They shouldn't even be thinking about trading him.

It's not a Valanciunas for Green swap. Green is going to Brooklyn, the one team that used him right. For the Nets he has worth.

As for the Raptors, I explained that it was to unload Barg's contract. I didn't think about amnesty.

Which is exactly why they will prefer Green over Stackhouse. He is better defensively and as a rebounder.

But they are thinking about trading for Gay. You never know with that FO.

This isn't a horrible trade, but guys, we need to get past the fact that Green has absolutely no trade value. The only way we could trade him for a productive player is if that player has a worse contract or is completely unwanted by his own team.

I believe that Green has trade value for Brooklyn.

He was great for them and he's a significant upgrade over Stackhouse. They have no reason to not want him back.

Possibly. But they'd obviously take Valanciunas over Green. They can just shop Valanciunas for a major piece. And besides, a backup 5 is their biggest need right now. They have one of the worst defense in the league when Brook Lopez sits down, statistically. Which is pretty funny since Brook is no defensive stalwart but he's still much better than Blatche at 5.

Not this season. Stackhouse couldn't hit a bull's *** with a bass fiddle, but he is posting better shooting percentages across the board than Green.

True. Which is why I included Bargs as a back up 5 in the deal but yeah he doesn't help defensively. On the contrary, it may make it even worse

That's true for this season but Gerald Green has superior career percentages. When his ankle heals he could be more reliable than Stack.

I'm confused. I thought they re-upped him after the new CBA, so he couldn't be amnestied. I probably don't understand the rule.

Could be. If I was Brooklyn, I'd rather have the geezer at the league minimum than a possibly slightly-better Green at 3yrs/$10.5M.

Well, if I was the Nets I'd rather play Shengelia
