    We need a true PG.
Nope. Our system and roster are horrible fits for a true PG.
Tonight, all flags must burn, in place of steeples.
Autonomy must return into the hands of the people.

Several league officials tell Y! Sports that Memphis has a plan to route Jose Calderon to a third team for assets in Rudy Gay deal.

Green to Memphis and Calderon to Boston makes sense, Memphis starting unit would be Conley, Alen, Green, Zbo and Gasol.

Helllooo mediocrity. This is Colangelo clearly clutching at straws as his contract is up this summer.

ESPN sources say Dallas is other prime landing spot for Calderon, but I'm told Mavs reluctant to part with SF that Grizz want: Vince Carter

Third team not yet in stone but Pistons have had interest in Calderon all season & have two SFs to help MEM fill Gay void: Prince & Maggette

OK so Pistons can get Calderon, interesting.

I hope to god you're right. I'd eat a loss for Calderon. It's not like we have a great chance to win anyway.

It looks like deal is done.

Sources: Rudy Gay heads to Toronto
    http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/88...oronto-raptors

The Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors have agreed in principle on a trade that will send leading scorer Rudy Gay to the Raptors, according to sources with knowledge of the deal.

    Gay
Sources told ESPN.com that the Grizzlies will acquire forward Ed Davis and veteran guard Jose Calderon from the Raptors and then move Calderon on to a third team to ultimately make this a three-team deal.

The Detroit Pistons, sources said, are one of the prime options to take on Calderon, having pursued the Spanish floor leader all season.

The Grizzlies want a small forward out of the trade and Detroit has two on its roster in the final year of their contract: Tayshaun Prince and Corey Maggette. But Memphis, sources said, is talking to at least one other team about taking on Calderon and is expected to receive a second-round pick from Toronto as part of the deal.

The Raptors, sources said, are expected to take on Grizzlies reserve center Hamed Haddadi in addition to Gay.

The Dallas Mavericks are the other most likely landing spot for Calderon, but sources said Dallas is resistant to parting with Vince Carter, Memphis' prime target on the Mavs' roster.

trade's done, just came across the ticker. Gay + Haddadi for Ed Davis + Calderon, Calderon's getting shipped to an unnamed 3rd team.

Kstat, as a Detroit fan, isn't Tayshaun a fan favorite for you guys?

    Thoughts about him getting dealt?

I'd imagine it being like us trading away Jeff Foster or something, but I don't know how he is viewed in DET.

The money doesn't work here. Really no way for us to be the 3rd team and it will be a tough find for a good parter. A team like ORL would be a good fit since they have a TPE of course you would have to give them a pick for doing it though. Denver makes tons of sense too put they already have 2 good pg's. but they have the TPE that would work. I like the fit really he would look great in that style and Dre can play some SG so maybe it's possible. Portland is almost another perfect fit their bench is awful he would help it dramatically but I don't see Portland making a move they aren't contenders they need a defensive big in the worst way. It will be interesting to see who emerges as the 3rd team Cavs are my final dark horse again they would need to be compensated for taking him they have shown they like doing those type of deals.
I almost named the pistons but thought there is no way Memphis would allow Maggtee on their team. Almost kills their chances luckily they still have Zbo and Gasol

One version of the Memphis-Raptors trade has Boston involved, sending Pierce to Memphis. Will be interesting to see how it ultimately looks.

    It'd be Prince, not Maggette.

    What?!

Maybe we can re-sign Reggie then trade HIM to Memphis.

How many teams are going to give up their fan favorite, franchise players today?!

That makes a ton of sense for Detroit and a lot better than Maggetee for the Grizz.

He's worn out his welcome. It's not his fault at all, the team is simply the opposite of what he needs to be playing in.

He will always be remembered fondly here, but it's like rodman. Its just his time to move on.

Not everybody is as emotional as some fans around here, smart teams do what is the best for their team even if is trading a fan favorite.

I am in love with the idea of Calderon in a pistons uni, even if he's just a Rental.

Interesting. Makes sense though from a basketball perspective.

It isn't about loyalty to me. He's in the way of a young team that simply does not mesh with him. He hurts the team defensively because they need to play inside/outside, and he's a spread motion isolation guy.

Both dumars and zeke finished their careers in Detroit. They weren't hindering anyone else, though. If they had stayed another year, maybe they would have been dealt.

Finances aside, on the Grizzlies behalf, it seems to be a "less is more" scenario which could see a return to their 2011 form. At least they know they can have something to fall back on without Gay.

They're really thin at SF now if this is the trade and Davis won't see much time playing behind Randolph.

    We'll see what goes down.
