Nah, it's not the hardest language in the world. But you certainly have a case as the hardest West Germanic language and maybe the hardest European language (although, Basque and the Uralic languages are hard as well).

I can only say that I'm highly fluent in English and, of course, my mother tongue (Greek). I have some knowledge on several languages (French, German, Albanian, Russian, Lithuanian and Finnish) and I can have a very short conversation in some of those languages but I am in no way fluent in them.

I'm still a university student and I'll seen enter post-graduate studies to expand my knowledge on the Uralic family

Ah, be nice! Even though I'm not a native speaker, the grammar does catch my eye sometimes. It doesn't bother me, but in my country it would be looked upon as strange when a foreigner has a better grasp of grammar than a native. Then again, it might be the hardest language in the world...
I lived in the Netherlands for a year and I would wager that a lot of you guys are better at English grammar than many, many Americans.

Great country btw, I have great memories of drinking Grolsch on the beaches of Zandvoort. Then I would ride my bike all the way back to Amsterdam to burn the calories.

Why the hell can't we sign Lebron James to a 10 day? Those guys are everywhere just waiting for a contract.
Maybe because he is not a free agent?

At what age did you start learning English?

At 5 years old. I was at the kindergarten.

Actually, I picked up the english alphabet one year before officially picking up the Greek one

@ScottAgness: No surprise, the Pacers have re-signed forward Sam Young. He's still working his way back from a severe ankle sprain. http://t.co/KYVLET6K

Well, it's not the sexiest move, but I am happy to have Sam back.

When you consider Gerald's demotion, Lance's soreness and overall slump, it will be good to have another quality backup at those positions.

I was expecting something like that. Unless something has changed in the last few years, we usually don't start truly teaching a second language here until students are closer to 14 years old, and many believe this is why Americans aren't nearly as multi-lingual as others. It'd be nice to start ours at that age.

It's not hard for a foreigner to have a better grasp of the English language versus a native Hoosier.

Well, it makes a lot of sense. You have no incentive to start teaching a second language earlier than 14 years old. English is the lingua franca and thus there is no need to learn a new language to access more information. I doubt that Greeks learned a second language in their early years when Koine Greek was the lingua franca.

People who don't have English as their native language pretty much need to learn English early, nowadays. Games, music, movies, the Internet. They pretty much force you to learn English.

This was the worst kept secret in recent memory for me. Everyone pretty much knew this is what they were doing once McGuire was signed. Mike Wells TOLD us it would happen.

I get the fact that Americans don't have to learn another language. But I definitely agree with the above quote. If someone wants to start learning a new language for whatever reason (let's say to broaden their horizons), he/she'd better start sooner. Not necessarily at the age of 5 though. Even 7-8 years old is a good time to start.

I'd love to see the Pacers sign AI mainly because of all the crying and I'm no longer following the team" empty threats from the old-heads on this forum.

If you really like watching the world burn, get the Pacers to sign Iverson. It'll be a full-out flame war.

Unfortunately my yokel parents didn't get that memo when I was a kid. 14 is tough, learning languages on your mid-20's is HELL.
