The front replay looks like Millsap is behind the backboard. How can it hit the side, when he's already behind it? If the was towards the corner of the baseline, then yeah, but he's already behind it when the ball releases his hand.

Someone line up the Warren Commission.
if the ball hit he back then how did it hit it Watson who was a good 12 feet from the baseline

Pretty stupid to have a review option, and not actually have the ability to use it.

Very few things are reviewable. But in this it wouldn't have made any difference since it hit the side of the backboard

You may say we didn't deserve to win this game, but the score said otherwise. The jazz did enough to win and should be proud, but so did the pacers.. . Particularly in crunch time. The refs just wiped out their efforts. Heck the game should have been over when west got fouled at the end of regulation.

Again, kudos to the Jazz for a great game but it was still frustrating.

Why are people saying this? It's a sphere. It can hit the back corner and still have forward trajectory. What cannot happen is for him to be lined up behind the glass and have it hit the side. Bottom maybe but not the side.

    The rules disagree

    b. Any ball that rebounds or passes directly behind the backboard, in either direction, from any point is considered out-of-bounds.

They blew the call but we sucked tonight we didn't deserve this game so I am not really upset about it. We should of beat them by double digits if we played good and not so sloppy.

Because it was also thrown from a lower angle. Unless it just completely hit the bottom of the backboard first. But he threw the ball from behind the backboard, unless the ball spun in the air it either had to hit the back then bottom or just bottom. The rules indicate only the side and front are inbounds. I don't know what it means for the bottom, but I don't think it could hit the side.

It was too close to tell in real time though. The whole point is to get the call right for questionable calls. That was questionable. It needs to be based on that, more so than individual situations.
