Ok so the Mods banned OlBlu from the Football board or something? So now he is trolling every other board. Has it dawned on the mods that there is a glaring fault with that half measure.

You may be right. I saw it and I was told it seated 250,000 for soccer.....
I've got a bridge in Brooklyn that is for sale then. Also have you met Manti Te'o's girlfriend? She is beautiful.

All I am saying is that I took a tour of that stadium and the guide told people it held 250,000 for soccer. It was enormous but that was a long time ago and perhaps the guide was full of it. I never counted the seats.....

    I found this:

The Estádio do Maracanã (English: Maracanã Stadium, standard Brazilian Portuguese: [iʃˈtadʒi.u du maɾakɐˈnɐ̃], local pronounce: [iʃˈtadʒu du mɐˌɾakɐˈnɐ̃]), officially Estádio Jornalista Mário Filho (IPA: [iʃˈtadʒu ʒoɦnaˈliʃtɐ ˈmaɾju ˈfiʎu]), is an open-air stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Owned by the Rio de Janeiro State Government, it is, as the Maracanã neighborhood where it is located, named after the Rio Maracanã, a now canalized river in Rio de Janeiro. It was opened in 1950 to host the FIFA World Cup, and in the final game Brazil was beaten 2-1 by Uruguay. Since then, it has mainly been used for football matches between the major football clubs in Rio de Janeiro, including Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense, and Vasco da Gama. It has also hosted a number of concerts and other sporting events. Although the paid attendance at the final game of the 1950 FIFA World Cup was 199,854 (being the world's largest stadium by capacity, when it was inaugurated), the stadium currently seats 78,838 spectators.[1] It was the main venue of the 2007 Pan American Games, hosting the football tournament and the opening and closing ceremonies.

I was sure the guide that I heard said it was the largest stadium in the world by capacity.....

The Estadio de Maracana seats82,000 people. It's being renovated for the World Cup and will lose 3000-4000 seats but regardless, there are at least 16 football stadiums in America that hold more. But thank you for your brilliant insight into the game of soccer. You have truly enlightened us all.
Yes it sits 82k people, the problem is that soccer fans in South America don't sit they like to stand up

I believe that they fill that stadium with more than 100k + people on special occasions(finals or whatever).

And regarding the new Indiana Soccer team, as a soccer fan I'm happy about the city, I can't wait to see who is the old broken down player that is going to be the face of the franchise

I'm excited to learn the future of Indy Pro Soccer. So far it looks like they're doing a fantastic job (as are the fans) of drumming up support.

    Indy Eleven is the name.

The crest is awesome, but I am underwhelmed by the name.

Can someone explain to me how Indy Eleven relates to the Civil War?

    11th Regiment

I don't like the name, but that is one of the best logos I've seen for any sport.

The crest is fantastic. The name isn't amazing, but I think it's growing on me.

It will grow on people, if only because there is a solid explanation behind it and the crest is great.

The number 1 explanation though is literally that the number of players on the field is 11. To me the regiment thing was added as an afterhtought, if you don't believe me go find the team's actual release. The first reason listed is because there will be 11 men on the field. So dumb.

The Colts should have ditched the classic Colt name after coming from Baltimore and called dibs on "Indy 11".

I agree, I think the name is awful.

Crest is great. Name pisses me off more and more every time I read it.

It just comes off as incredibly simpleton.

It's NASL. It's basically the AAA, NBA D-league, AHL, etc. of the MLS.

The ownership group has done a great job up to this point, the name is pretty underwhelming. I was banking on it being Circle City FC or something along those lines.

Yeah they had been doing so well, but the name has definitely sucked some wind out of the sails. Baffling mistake. It wasn't even one of the names people were campaigning for.

Exactly. You could send suggestions on Twitter and on the team website and yet it seems like none of them got consideration. As with any team name, it will eventually grow on people and seem like an afterthought a few years from now.

Circle City FC would have been terrible. Names like that are no good. "Just saw Circle City FC on TV. Where are they from?"

When they said the name had historical context with April 25th I was hoping for the Indianapolis Artillery.

The difference between NASL and those leagues is that those are farm teams. This is more like a 1-AA team.
