From where I sat it seemed to me that the refs are looking to blow the whistle on Hibbert. Hope that changes.

Defense was not there for the starting unit. Terrible Defense, Orlando is full of shooters. Didn't they read the scouting report? Huge let down tonight, no excuse for this team to lose against the Magic. Especially when the starting unit rested the entire 4th qtr last night.
You can't get champagne from a garden hose.

He will be a free agent this summer. Just saying.

That bar is set pretty low, it doesn't mean to me that we should go after McBob. I'd love to dump Green and somehow have a do over in free agency this summer with Bird here to call the shots this time.

He is not worth 3mil a year.
    He's cheaper than Tyler's 3,055,259.

I didn't see the game, but if he's cheaper and makes less, then surely we'd call that a bargain.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

    Few key things.....

**Though Green is doing well defensively and on the boards, he and the rest of the bench are really killing us offensively. Some days the opposition is going to get it going like they did tonight, and when we can't count on our bench to give us some type of offense, it puts a lot of pressure on our starters.

**The magic ALWAYS give us a tough time. They just spread us out and run PnP with cutters from the weak side. Vogel really needs to figure out a way to combat this style of play. I know most teams don't have the personnel to run this type of offense, but seeing it happen shows that it's just another wrinkle we need to add to our defense if we truly want to be elite.

**I feel we're slowly beginning to miss Danny's offense out there

Tyler is on his rookie year, neither one is worth that much, either way the Pacers not even calling him back when he was a free agent tells me a lot.

To me, it says that they were more interested in David West and Nene than they were in McRoberts. You take either one of those guys over the vast majority of big men in the league. With Tyler already under contract we had no reason to go after a career backup PF.

I've been thinking we've looked tired as of late. West in particular. Green looks really bad right now. Hoping Danny comes back and his return helps improve bench scoring. At worst, Lances creativity and ability to play aggressively on the offensive end of the floor (though he has deferred with the starters) will open things up for Tyler and mahinmi. And will get the ball out of Greens hands.

2-17, 12% from 3pt land... that's not going to get it done. Especially when the other team shoots 12-21! uhhhg....

I'm ready for Gerald Green to move on.

Maybe because he's been a career 35% shooter, significantly higher than that when he played more minutes? Should Hibbert stop shooting entirely? Let's not lose sight of the big picture here. We're 3rd in the East with Granger coming back soon and we're not even at the All Star Break yet. The wise thing to do is to let Green (and Augustin) shoot their way out of their slumps now, before the season starts to wind down and the playoff picture becomes clearer.
Can Green just shoot his way out of his slump in practice? I mean, if he can't get it going in real games, he better find other ways to score.

The two major weaknesses that we have on offense that this game really highlighted were our inability to get to the line (coupled with an unwillingness to shoot close shots) and poor shot creation and passing. (That might actually be more than two.) I think Danny can help with getting to the line and finding smarter shots. How the hell do we fix the passing before playoff time though?

Green has been shooting like **** for most of the season, especially from three. He's only playing because of our terrible bench depth. (You could say the same about everyone else not named Ian.) But he was like the eleventh worst thing that was wrong with the Pacers tonight. He hasn't been a positive difference maker at all, but he doesn't lose us games. The Pacers excel on defense as a team, suck **** on offense as a team, and win or lose as a team.

I didn't realize it was the Pacers 4th game in 5 nights and 6 games in 9 nights. Dare I say schedule loss.

Plus the Magic played very well in the game after the Wizards blew them out.

Gerald Green is currently 29.4% from the 3-point line, why won't the he stop, I am sure, they get stat-sheets of their performance, yet he continues to shoot at-least 3 (3 pointers) a game.
I have heard it said many times. A player's job is to play and take the open shots within the offense. if a player is doing that and still missing, then it is the coaches job to sit that player and play someone else.

The sai thing is Green is open. His shot selection isn't bad.

McRoberts actually makes more. $3,135,000 vs $3,055,000

Nothing is obvious there at all.

I would still rather have Tyler

You seem to forget, I suggested that O'Brien not be brought back after his third season, so I was certainly in favor of and thought it was time for a change during Jim's 4th season.

Back to the topic at hand. If you would rather have Josh instead of Tyler that is fine and a very arguable point. But to suggest that Josh is obviously better than Tyler is IMO just not correct. I guess I have a problem with the word obvious.

    Obviously.

Is there an arguable point for why you'd rather have Tyler? I'd like to hear it.

    You've got that right!

Te Pacers threw more interceptions than Peyton Manning in a playoff game.

He may or may not be better, but in spite of their differences in strengths and weaknesses; they're too similar in production to be able to say one is an "obvious" better choice over the other.

In other words: if we had Josh instead of Tyler we probably wouldn't improve much, if at all. If we're going to replace Tyler, it needs to be with a clear upgrade, not a marginal one.
