@MikeWellsNBA: The plan still - barring any setbacks - is for Granger to return to the lineup in early February

Not many teams will be adding a career 19PPG scorer to their lineups this February.

    Nobody said that.

We said that was his ceiling, which he hasn't reached. You're obtuse.

I think it will help sure. I don't think it will push us over the top.

More than anything, I guess I'm just skeptical that Granger will buy in defensively and accept a role offensively the way we need him to in order for it to be anything more than a superficial upgrade.
Did you miss the entire 2011-12 season? Danny played his best defense of his career last year and yet you're not sure he'll buy in defensively?

I don't get how so many people forget how good Danny Granger is. Even in a down year FG% wise (from 2) he averaged 18.7 ppg in just 33 minutes per game. No one on the team is currently averaging that much. It wasn't because he was a chucker either. As his average has decreased the past 3 seasons, so have his attempts and minutes played.

If he's healthy, I doubt he'll come back and average less than 15 points per game. He's too good from 3 and he gets to the free throw line more than anyone currently on the team (career average of 4.9 attempts per game). Offensively, the team will be much more efficient as soon as he's back in the lineup.

So, you're in tune with every great basketball mind in the country? smh

You really don't know what the hell you're talking about Mattie. I see my take on the wing position is still going right over your head. I joined in January of last year... go back and find one thing I've been wrong about when it comes to Paul George. Just one.

Your problem is you have no original ideas, no feel for the game. Every opinion you have is stolen from someone else or based on a statistic that your lack of knowledge of the game doesn't allow you to fully understand. You're like a wannabe Seth without the feel. Jmho

    WOW, that your humble opinion!!!!!

And to think this was such a good thread. It's been hijacked a couple times by people wanting to be mean. Awful commentary. If you have nothing nice to say...

You've argued the Pacers starting shooting guard for the past two seasons, isn't a starting shooting guard. Every time you've said that you've been wrong.

The big thing, is Granger's presence helps everyone. The Pacers offense should get exponentially better simply because of better looks for everyone including Danny's personal, positive effect.

The problem with Granger coming back is that he and George do not fit well together.
I mean, they have the exact same accessories.

    Huge problem for us.

Huge problem for us? Hmmmmmmm, Sir I don't know exactly agree. Paul George isn't exactly a Lebron/Kobe/Wade(Prime) type player to be handling the ball all game long.
Btw, Do you know who our HOF PG's the were the last few years? Well neither do I(Danny was forced to handle the ball). Danny handled the ball because A) We needed him to drop 30+ in order to stay within striking distance of a win. B) He was our only main threat to get to the rim and get those easy points. Something Paul has yet to develop, I also understand that Paul gets very little help from the Refs. It's also obvious that Danny's spacing is hurting our bigs. Teams simply don't respect our 3 ball nor our mid range game. Danny's presence alone is a instant fix. People have really forgotten Danny's importance to this franchise. It's just a shame, Then people complain about why athletes hold out and what not. Danny has been here for the good or for the bad, Pretty sure he could have left years ago If he wanted to. The man has carried us thru those dark days. Not to mention his (Fake)toughness, Is something that we lack, In the words of Bird! We are a soft team without Granger. We are not half as physical as the last year and a half.

All Danny has to do know is just camp behind the arc, I guarantee you that we will see better penetration, You'll be wondering if you accidentally ordered a porno instead of the Pacers game.

Look at the match up favors definitively we would have with Granger. Look no further than todays game.
Paul will start off guarding Parsons! Instead of guarding Harden. You stop Harden and you'll beat the rockets easily. But we can't do that, Paul can easily guard opponents SG's because he's quick. But we struggle when has to play off his man, This is where he gets killed by those long 3's. Simply put George on opponents primary ball handler and watch him lock it down.

Btw, My new nickname for Paul George is the hurtlocker. The man will simply disarm you.

We need Danny asap and his gorgeous stroke.

    By me ^^

How will they decide who gets to wear the armband on any given night? And will they each wear one legband or will they do the same thing as with the armband go for all or nothing?

Time for Simon to open the checkbook and look into spending some money at Dick's sporting goods. And while he has Pritch doing the shopping he should have him pick up a headband for just one of these guys so I'll be able to tell them apart.

You know, like Formula 1 teammate helmets. Danny's in the Blue Collar headband and George wears the Gold Swagger headband. Actually to be honest that sounds kinda cool.

Just to be clear, since (like MettaWP) I am ALL feel, you can't really be a wannabe without the feel. Maybe he has SOME of the feel, but not ALL of the feel. That makes more sense.

    You may resume fighting now.

I agree with you, but I also think people shouldn't expect too much out of Danny right away after he's sat out more than half the season. I think he'll be working his way into game shape at first and his timing and overall game will likely be a bit off. Some people here will panic and rant about how the Pacers should trade him when all we need to do, assuming he's actually healthy and can stay that way, is have some patience.

Edit: Oops, I meant to be responding to this post from Anthem: I said this in another thread, but I think there's an awful lot of "What have you done for me lately" with Granger. People forget how much he's carried the team over the past few years, and he's proven that he's willing to take on any role the team needs. I can't wait to put Granger and New George on the wings and see what we do to people.
