    Default Dunk Contest?

Anyone know what's going on this year?

There was an article last week saying PG and Green won't be in this year.

Then earlier today, Chris Palmer tweets this without any confirmation
    Chris Palmer ‏@ESPNChrisPalmer
Dunk Contest: Terrence Ross (@T_DotFlight31); Gerald Green; Paul George; Alonzo Gee (@GeeAlonzo)
    https://twitter.com/ESPNChrisPalmer/...21073132482561

And just to add to the confusion...earlier today, Paul George posted on his Instagram to follow Gerald Green, who just joined. Green's first photo was this...

    Can I get another one?

Interesting. I hope so. To have 2 pacers in the contest would be beyond awesome.

Obviously I have no source, but my prediction is Gerald Green will be in but not Paul. I believe I remember seeing an article after last years contest that basically indicated via quotes from Paul that he was pretty disgusted with the contest and would not compete anymore. Paul probably considers it beneath him at this point since the days of star players in contests are loooooong gone.

Also, IIRC, the NBA once have a rule that said only players in their first 3 years could compete. Essentially attempting to eliminate the complaints that the contest was filled with nobodys. Or did I make that up? If not then Green wouldn't be eligible.

Zach Lowe tweeted this a few days ago, says Paul George won't be in it and Gerald likely won't.

I believe you're correct. That's why they started labeling it as "Rising Stars." I figure they would be more lenient with that rule after last year's mediocre contest.

And I'm surprised no one in here has mentioned James White. I know several NBA players have been campaigning for him and he would be eligible. I feel almost certain he'll be in it.

Paul just couldn't believe he was beaten by a bunch of gimmicks like that midget comedian and a motorcycle. That's beneath him. He's way above that.

Eh, I think the problem was that PG went over Roy, and that other guy went over Kevin Hart. Jump over a 7 footer/jump over a 4'11" guy...shouldn't even be a discussion.

Paul seemed pretty adamant that he wouldn't be doing it again after that fiasco.

Regardless of who won, I remember thinking last year that I wouldn't be wasting my time with ANYTHING on All-Star weekend again.

Didn't Paul miss several attempts on one of his dunks? I think that is probably what screwed him.

I asked Gerald at FanJam if he wanted to be in another dunk contest and would he accept if he was invited. He told me "probably not". Maybe (hopefully) he had a change of heart.

PG and Green should both be in it. I remember T-Mac and Carter were both in in 2000 when they were with Toronto

Paul definitely should have won last year, that was a joke of a dunk contest. I think if Gerald enters he should have a pretty good chance of winning just based on reputation as a dunker. That's the way it will be with the fan voting. If James White is in it then it might actually be a decent contest compared to recent years.

Yeah, the Larry Bird dunk...it was ugly.

But that isn't what screwed him, because other guys missed MUCH easier dunks just as many times as PG missed his.

It was that stupid fan voting, everyone voted for Kevin Hart. Same way Hart won the celebrity game MVP (even though he was ejected and didn't really score or anything lol).
