LOL!!!!!!!! That's the pot calling the kettle black. The words killer instinct and BRush should never be used in the same sentence.
Yeah. At the time I figured "it takes one to know one," though on the whole I did like Rush.

It's been concerning, yes, but D West will get back on track. I'm not worried, but the sooner he can get out of this funk, the better.

if you don't think it's worth nothing Melo was out while we held them to a season low I don't know what to tell you. he's not Kurt Thomas.

I sure don't want to jinx anything, but Reggie said what I've been thinking the last few weeks that he felt the coaches would vote for Paul George onto the Allstar team.

If that happens, get your checkbook out Donnie!

If we were a deep team like the spurs I would like to see Vogel rest West like Pop does with Duncan.

Strangely though I think he has actually looked better on defense since he started slumping. Although maybe he is putting more effort into defense to try and make up for his slump.

I have said over and over that this team is mentally weak. They sure weren't tonight. They were very very tough. They battled all night and I am proud of them. Mahimi was very good and PG is becoming a monster. He just might be the star we need and I love his attitude. Still chewing crow and I am very happy about it. This was smashmouth basketball and there is not another team I would rather smash in the mouth than the Knicks.

I don't see why this team can't win the East this year, especially when Granger comes back. That might change if Miami gets somebody who can grab a rebound.

Henceforth and hitherto, any slights against the Pacers bench real or imagined, are not pertaining to one Ian Mahinmi, who tonight in front of a packed Fieldhouse in a little cow town in the Midwest showed everyone the true meaning of the word MAN.

Quote from the post-game locker room:

Question to Paul George: "Were you a good defender in college?"

“Honestly, I wasn’t," George answered. "Not in high school. Not in college. I was good at playing the passing lanes, but I wasn’t a great on-ball defender. That’s something I credit JOB for. That was the only way I could get on the floor was to defend, and that’s stuck with me.”

Separately, I asked Vogel Tuesday about his plans on Danny's return. He said that they'd play it by ear at first, but the plan was for Danny to start relatively soon, and certainly be part of the finishing unit immediately. He loves that pairing, and consistently refers to that line up (GH-PG-DG-DW-RH) as "dominant." He also has spoken repeatedly over the year about how much he loves Danny and PG at the wings. Loves the size it gives them, and he believes that's been one of the missing pieces in why they are forcing fewer turnovers (deflections).

I asked him about Lance moving to the bench. He said the plan was to play him with Augustin & Green, and that they would probably run more plays for him. Vogel thinks that Lance's numbers could go up in that role, but also likes him paired with the shooting of DJ & Gerald. Role may be similar to Danny's last year or Paul's this year, which technically is 3-ish, but really is just Wing 1/Wing 2 in his world. (Main difference offensively between the two is PnR partners - Vogel doesn't like 3-4 PnRs, because he thinks D's are more comfortable switching that - and side of the floor the positions play from.

Whether that's "freeing" Lance or not, I couldn't tell you. It is more freedom than I expected based on Vogel's comments to me on the subject over the course of the season. However, those comments were in point-guard specific context, which Vogel has pretty clearly expressed why he thinks Lance is not a point guard. I overextended the concerns Vogel had about Lance running the team - which are significant - and extrapolated that to not giving Lance a bigger role in any aspect. That appears incorrect.

On another subject, says that he's been giving the ball to Lance late in PnR situations for two reasons: (1) teams will put bigger players on George Hill, and (2) he wants to get West in the play, which means either 1-4 or 2-4 PnR. Says it's a specific play, with the priority to get West the ball, but Lance has read options. Same play would be called for PG, if Danny were on the floor.

More George from tonight - it sounds like the team may be gravitating towards keeping the ball in his hands even with Danny back. PG joked that if he's got Danny on the weakside, he (Paul) knows his assists will go up.

Thought this game really turned when things started getting chippy in the 3rd. The Knicks fell apart while the Pacers seemed fueled by it.

Well, guess what? Some of us may not like it, but this has quickly become our style of play. It isn't pretty at all, but it is our way of winning. Initially, I thought this was our way of winning "without Granger". But this is probably who we are under Vogel from now on, with or without Granger.
That's the most beautiful way to win, imo

Nor can the word scrub be used to describe Mahinmi as a player.

Lets just hope we can stay hot on the road in January. Then for a cushy February.

And honestly March doesn't look too bad either. Either tough teams at home. Or road games against teams that could give up at the trade deadline.

The difference between Paul George and JR Smith in the 4th was the difference between an all star and a chucker. When the game got tough, JR smith got an all expenses paid trip to Paul George island, meanwhile Paul was the best defensive guy on the floor and the best offensive guy as well.

AMazing to me Paul only got 2 free throws, I see this as the journey he has to take with the refs just as Roy had to do it defensively.
