If Granger is traded, I hope it's for an large expiring and either a player on a rookie contract that has loads of potential or a pick that is high up.
Lance + Starting SG = Awesome

    Now really free Lance!

At this point, it looks like George is bound to get the max. Two years from now someone like LA or Dallas is going to miss out on LeBron, Melo and Bosh, and it's going to happen. Maybe he takes a cheaper extension this summer, but I doubt it.

So considering this, is it really smart for a small market team to tie itself to 3 max contracts in George, Hibbert and Gordon? I don't think so. I think the better plan is to stick with 2 max contracts and surround them with a deep team of slightly cheaper vets. If that 3rd max guy is a legit superstar, then it's obviously another topic. But Gordon isn't that.

Oddly enough, probably the best way for us to keep George without paying the max is for him to become a borderline but obvious max player between now and then. Teams *usually* only play in RFA if they offer a contract that is probably more than what the player is worth. If you sign a quality player to a market value offer sheet it is most likely going to get matched.

That said, if he becomes a solid max contract player (ie, he qualifies for the Derrick Rose rule) then you don't really care if you have to pay the max, and you offer the extension before he even ever hits free agency.

I'd rather we trade Danny for a player who can actually physically play more than a few games a season.
The thing is, we don't need to trade Granger unless its for Kevin Durant

The only reason the Pacers would trade Granger is if they would trade him to OKC for Durant

I don't know, I would accept a package of LeBron + Ray Allen + picks for Granger.

Ok, yeah but I'm saying that there's 99.99% Granger won't be traded

I mean the chance of Granger being traded may not be that great, but there are a lot of guys that we could be offered that would cause us to consider moving him.

That could be true. I'd consider (strongly) moving him for an elite SG. I'm, frankly, willing to wait out the rest of Paul George's rookie contract to see if Gordon can get through a healthy season.

I'm in no hurry to pull the trigger, but for me the question of Gordon isn't answered with a resounding "no", its with the patience to see if he can put a healthy season together.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

Wait. You think Granger for Durant is more realistic than Granger for Kobe?

I heard a rumor that the Rockets would be interested in Granger and that they made trade Lin or Harden for Granger.

That's the stupidest part of all this. You have another season of Paul's rookie deal and then you go to RFA/Qualifying level after that. It's not like this summer you have to find the money to pay Paul. You only have to consider giving West a few more years in the 9-11m range, which is pretty reasonable when he's out there kicking butt for the team.

The Paul contract issue matches up with Danny's deal running out. Why race ahead to confront that?

I would make this trade and not think twice and I'd hate to trade Danny. I wouldn't trade him just to trade him, but for Eric Gordon, yes.

If we were to trade Danny which seems unlikely at this point, I'd hope the FO tries to acquire EJ.

We had some interest in the offseason and Pacers and Eric Gordon will be tied to each other. I think KP and DW would strongly consider getting him.

    No you didn't.

Besides rumors are just that. With sites like bleacher report, anyone can start asinine rumors.

If someone told you Trader Joe and vnzla were great guys would you believe it?

If games are won and lost on a calculator and piece of paper, then why do we bother to play them?

    You forgot "filler".

There's always filler involved, it seems.

The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)
