The NBA and David Stern are smarter than you think. They suspend Melo for the Pacers game because the Pacers just came off a very emotional win over the HEAT and with Amare on limited minutes, Felton out and now Melo out this game suddenly becomes a huge trap game. And the Knicks then get Melo back for the Chicago game. See how that works?
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.
- Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
- Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
- Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.
Enjoy your time at PD!

Update... RT @ScottAgness: George Hill didn’t participate in shootaround but the Pacers have classified him as probable tonight vs NY.
Heisenburg, if I made a Top Ten list of people I agree with/generally enjoy the posts of, you would definitely be on it. You are the danger, after all. I'm just saying, that was a hell of a 180 there.
Didn't really know where to put this, but Reggie and the Dutchman will be in the house tonight. Not really surprising Rik comes to a fair share of games, but I wonder the last time they were both in the fieldhouse together.
Doc rivers says KG disnt talk about melos wife
Not to mention Team USA member Tyson Chandler, and former All-Stars Roy and West, and future All-Star Paul.
But other than all of them, why bother going to this game. I don't know how anyone talks any family into going into any non Lakers, Thunder, Heat or Knicks game at this point. Maybe some Celts game due to nostalgia.
It's fine they'd like to see Melo but he's far from the #1 NBA star nor the only star in this game.
This is passing up a Reds-Yanks game in 1995 because Barry Larkin is sitting out and the Yanks only have some rookie named Derek Jeter. And that's not crazy. I coached LL back then and none of the kids knew Jeter and they all loved Larkin. But if they'd been able to see Jeter instead of Larkin they'd sure be happy to talk about it today.
It's still the #1 NBA facility, national TV, Reggie Miller's return and freaking PG & Co. headed to a very possible ECF/Finals run. It's just a teensy bit more appealing that hanging out at home. And 10 years from now they can tell everyone how they saw PG "back when he was nobody".
You forgot Kidd
If games are won and lost on a calculator and piece of paper, then why do we bother to play them?
But honestly that's a great point. I totally spaced and he's just a tiny bit famous and certainly has a strong HOF case going. He's barely alive at this point, but still.
*just jinxed him into 24-8-9 I bet. Drat
