I'd think GS would at least consider Barnes + filler for Granger since Granger would easily make them a playoff contender.
They are already a playoff contender they are a damn good team this year and Barnes is only 20.

Barnes is going to be really good and already is really solid.

yea you're right it was the other way around. i forgot. which it didnt work out for memphis either. they could have Rush who was grat for GS before injury and let Jmac walk. instead they got nothing.
If games are won and lost on a calculator and piece of paper, then why do we bother to play them?

i thought barnes played sf not sg. also isnt he a starter? he's not going to be happy coming off the bench here.

Isn't half of Ford's argument that George needs to be played at the 3 to be fully utilized? What would trading for Parsons or Barnes (other guys who are much better suited to play the 3) accomplish, besides cutting payroll and getting younger?

I don't think a Granger trade is as set in stone as Ford seems to think (every season), but I do think they would entertain a deal if the right package presented itself. It would have to be a damned good package though.

EJ has been playing very good. Including a game winner and-1 against Dallas.

I'd move Granger for a younger, cheaper talent, but only if that talent was significant, and only if it filled a need. A young power forward who could eventually takeover for the aging David West, for example. I don't think Harrison Barnes is quite promising enough to be worth it, then throw in the fact that he plays the same position as George (as someone already mentioned), and I'd probably pass. Replace Barnes with Klay Thompson, and then we could talk.

If one of them moves on, we'll look to match the collective age of the team, or maybe even go younger and build further into serious Title Contenders.
Actually if anything we will go older. There is a reason why Miami went after cheap vets instead of cheap youngsters. You need vets to win a championships.

Yeah, that Ray Allen signing looked good last night...
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

To be fair to Ray, it's only the second time in his career (and first since 1997) that he was held scoreless. The defense was solid, but he also missed some decent looks.

Kevin Love is a salary match for Danny Granger, straight up.

I know he doesn't have many fans on here, but imagine our rebounding then.

Before the fur starts flying, I would prefer to re-sign David West and to keep Danny, but if David is gone then I see some logic from both sides. They have a need at SF, we would have a need at PF, Love wants out. He is out for two months now with hand surgery

Doesnt hurt to ask they have wanted Danny for years like I said I wouldn't do it if I was them but ask for a lot. I would be fine with just Barnes and Jefferson or Beans I am a huge Barnes fan and wouldn't trade him if I was GS.

But with how much GS has been linked to Granger I would ask for the moon.

Well yeah I'd ask for Curry and David Lee, but that isn't worth proposing, either.

And regarding Chad Ford comments I don't see it, as long as Danny is hurt he is not going anywhere.

    re second bolded - Kirilenko?

Anyway, if they were trading Love, they'd get much more.

No way we will get any value in return for Granger, he is damaged goods, no team will take a chance on him with that type of injury, if we get oj mayo for granger, that would be a steal if we could fleece the mavs for granger

Minnesota doesn't consider this. Another team would surely offer more.

Kirilenko is on a 1 year contract, though with a player option for next year. Not sure how happy he is, either. He misses a lot of games and before Chase Budinger was hurt, he was pushing AK for playing time.

Sure we'd have to add a protected draft pick or two. Granger's contract would allow them to essentially get out from the same contract 2 years earlier

This guy (Ford) is maddening. Its like he really believes the goal of an NBA front office is to acquire assets to trade.

I'm looking forward to seeing this team when Danny returns. Danny the player is worth more than Danny the tradeable asset. Now, at the trading deadline, next summer, next season, whenever.

Trading Danny for cap relief would be a signal that we're settling to be a 2nd-round team.

Is the concern on here really bench depth? Oh brother. A second unit of PG-TBD, Lance, Mahini, maybe one other wing player ought to be fine, assuming the starters are playing enough minutes. Gerald Greene's contract is going to cause us more problems next season if we can't unload him than Danny's will.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you
