What can't Lance do? He can shoot, dribble, pass, defend, finish around the rim. Besides poor FT shooting, he shows all the signs of a future all star
    So could Fred Jones lol

Now wait a minute. I can dribble, pass, defend and shoot FTs. Other than my inability to finish around the rim, do I show the signs of a future all star?

Maybe that George McCloud no-look turnover in your Fleer card has made me delusional.

I agree, but not at an elite level. His defense is more likely subject to team defense though. Plus he still makes bad decisions. He still isn't consistent either.

The easy answer is "way too much."

The snarky answer is "you could have put a max contract on the left side of the rim and you would have never had to worry about him collecting a cent of it."

    ADDENDUM:

These last 20 posts or so have made me realize I really have an aversion to Pacers players with uniform #20. (at least those that weren't named Hillman.)

You pay Lance 6 mil its a bad contract. you pay him 7 mil, and he makes a "Worst contracts in the NBA" list at some point.
So why keep him at all if you don't think he will amount to being worth 6 mil a year in the prime of his career?

Overpaying a guy 1-2 Mil tops per year WILL NEVER make that list, bub...

The odds that he exceeds that 6 Mil contract are waaaay greater than he underperforms it royally.

I said Lance's value like 5 pages ago now...3 yr/12 mil. Anymore he's too much, any less he's a steal.

Because that's the price that players like Jamal Crawfrod and Lou Williams command, and they had a lot bigger sample size than 35 games of 8pt scoring to get it.

We need to pay Lance whatever it takes!

We need to keep pg and Lance together going forward. We will have 2 perennial all stars. I'm so excited for our future!

Sorry, I heard that 2 years ago from others about retaining McBob! 8 mil was bantered about by some, the MLE by many others. Now, look what he signed a contract for with the Lakers. He's presently a reserve behind the rookie Nicholson on the Magic bench. Lets not get carried away and give the store away to re-sign Stephenson. I stated I feel he can get 6 mil based on what Walsh paid Green. If Walsh does pay Stephenson 6 mil, I won't be happy UNLESS there has been much PROGRESS in Lance's game between now and contract time. It could happen, and I truly hope so! If it does it will be a better spent 6 mil than the 6 mil that was spent on re-signing the often injured Foster.

Right, we have a team option for next season. We will have a much better idea of what he is worth next summer.
Right. And if it's 8+ Mil, it will be SAYONARA LANCE!!

If Paul George is your #1 wing, making a max salary, then your championship window might be 3-6 years away. You'd need time to build a team around that. This team is built around Hill, Granger, West, and Hibbert.

We know you don't think this team has potential. Yet they're red-hot lately even without their best wing player.
The Championship window is still 3-6 years away when Danny and West are not here anymore, putting your championship hopes on the back of a player with knee issues and a 32 years old player that is starting to look old is a recipe to fail.

Those two don't need to be the leading scorers or the most important players if we were to contend. That should fall on the most talented player (if PG is truly that)

We do need those two guys for veteran presence, leadership, ability to play through loud playoff crowds on the road, etc. EVERY championship team has a few old heads on their roster that play integral parts both on and off the court. (who knew 29 and 32 were old heads lol)

Most contending teams have far more veterans than our current team has. We frankly need to get more mature, not bank on high-flying potential.

We need Paul George to still be as good as he's been WHEN Danny returns and he isn't the best wing on the team again.

Because if your second wing is as good as he's been lately, we'll be in good shape.

OJ went to Dallas because he knew that there wasn't much of a market for him as a starter and he was penciled in as a starter day 1, giving him the opportunity to earn another quick contract. That, and he knows Mark Cuban will Pony up when its time...

If we just keep thinking these good players are going to come to Indiana for peanuts, we will be waiting forever... Indiana is not Dallas. Simon is not Cuban

OKC doesn't have that many vets and they went to the finals, Miami won the championship and they have a bunch of vets because they used all their cap space in Bosh, Lebron and Wade, if your theory of vets been able to win a championship was true Dallas would be leading the NBA as the team to win the championship this year and they are not.
