And who was that? Because in hindsight I'm not sure anyone stood to gain anything by it....
Mike Shanahan needed to get into the playoffs to really protect his job.

Really when I read Andrews comments, I don't see a guy who has anything to gain, all I see is a guy who pretty much called exactly what ended up happening.

And, I don't mean to be discussing this as if I am taking some enjoyment from it. I am sick today because I am fearful that RGIII's entire career trajectory was changed yesterday and for what? I am crossing my fingers that the news when it breaks will be good, but I am bracing for the worst.

Yet he still cleared him to play (and supposedly told several higher ups he passed all tests and would be good to go)

I have seen that it could be ACL, PCL, and MCL. Like you I am crossing my fingers, but the scuttlebutt is not sounding great. And unfortunately I can believe it, if the ACL was already compromised than I can absolutely see the PCL and MCL going on that 4th play.

If its PCL or MCL then I fire Shanny today at 3:01.

Granted I also have a lot invested, and I think several people have dropped the ball in this situation. This one is going to be a mess to clean up

It will be interesting to see what Andrews says this afternoon. I don't eblieve that the knee in the 4th quarter was structurally sound.

I believe a preliminary diagnosis can be made without an MRI. The MRI can just confirm and show the extent of the damage. IMHO It's more possible for the preliminary diagnosis to miss something that the MRI later shows than for the preliminary diagnosis of a tear(s) to be wrong. IOW... the preliminary could seem to be "OK" but the MRI ends up showing "It's not OK". ...Have my doubts it happens the other way often...

IOW #2 the initial reports could be true: ACL and PCL tears.... AND no MRI taken yet (though I find it hard to believe there'd be any delay at all getting an MRI on RG3... and there's been time).

The test for an ACL tear is called the Lockman test and according to my doc who worked on my knee it is typically 90% accurate.

MRI could be masking old vs new ACL injury perhaps. Shanny states he doesn't know.

Pretty Sure Dr James is the Alabama doctor as well. He has a game tonight

There ya have it.. Shanny has no idea, as to the extent of injury.. Probably know more tomorrow.. More time for prayers Skins Nation.. All we can do..

Yeah I forgot Andrews would be in FLA already. So the right knee is the same knee from college?

I think you can figure in this case, no news is not good news.

I can't see any delay in getting a star QB's situation figured out ASAP. So any delays mean the initial diagnosis isn't coming back positive.

It can take one or two MRIs to know for sure depending on swelling. When I hurt my knee the lockman test came up positive for me as a torn ACL, but the MRI revealed that it was really just the tendons around my knee cap being so swollen because I had partially dislocated it that caused the false positive.

Well, that's just awful. Hopefully the reporting outlets have jumped the gun and were fed some bad information.

Holy crap. An entire next season without Griffin would blow.

Honestly from this point on I think a lot is on Snyder. I think Shanahan has shown that he isn't really willing to manage RG3 with an eye for making sure he has a long, great career. It's up to Snyder to address that situation or accept that he may be wasting the greatest talent his franchise will see for a long time.

If it turns out that Shanahan ignored Andrews' advice he basically has to be fired. You're talking about compromising RGIII's livelihood at this point. If Shanahan is not fired, and forcefully so, the Redskins are going to get Eli Manning'd every year of the draft.

    Well, this ain't good ............

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/2012...y-tore-acl-lcl

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has suffered partial tears to the anterior cruciate ligament and lateral collateral ligament in his right knee, according to a report from The Washington Post.
This is just a bad situation. I feel sorry for the kid.

    There's a picture of Griffin here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...-mri-suggests/

    Not a pretty sight.

After reading the Washington Post article, this really isn't anything 'new'. "The MRI suggests ........." Nobody is sure what's going on at this point. It'll be a few days before the doc checks him out and even at that - they might not have anything conclusive.

If RGIII is out for that long, that would be depressing. Great player, tons of fun to watch, seems like a really good guy, would totally suck to see his career derailed so early.

I know its the playoffs Shanahan, but Kirk Cousins isn't Tim Tebow! He's actually pretty good, give him a damn chance.

Shanahan needs fired and never considered for another football job. You have a rookie franchise QB and you're straight up lying about a knee injury. There's no reason for a player or franchise to put any trust in him and when that's the case you have no business being a coach, at any level.

These are people. If Vogel, Pagano, or Painter pulled that **** I'd be leading the picket lines.

That's what I said yesterday. RGIII, it's not like he is 35 years old and will never have another chance to play in the playoffs or advance to the SB. He is a rookie and your franchise QB. You'd better damn look after him even if he's *****ing about not playing. You have to look at the big picture. I certainly agree about the notion of Shanahan being fired if he didn't get the OK from Andrews.
