"I inherited a team that was 31st in the league in defense and made them better," Ryan said. "I (expletive) made them a hell of a lot better. I'll be out of work for like five minutes."

There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

Is this the year of scapegoating the coordinator or something? I don't remember there being so many firings like this.

I mean he is right, he should not have been the one seeing the door, but oh well, Dallas invested in it's defense and I guess they planned to see better results, I think management is probably the biggest problem out there though.

He wasn't that bad...he made a really flawed Dallas defense, not too bad

    Yeah, that defense was great.

I will miss his arrogance.....and watching him get beat by our "college" crap twice a year

the Jets are train wreck East, and the Cowboys are train wreck (south)West
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

he's not the best coordinator, but he's not terrible. the loss of Sean Lee to injury really hurt them this year as well. but when i look at the cowboys, if I'm firing Rob Ryan, the entire coaching staff is gone. Garrett is horrible. And the only reason he is there, just like why Wade Phillips was there over Parcells, is because they will do whatever Jerry Jones says.

The Cowboys won't be a top team as long as Jerry Jones is the GM. He needs to learn to be an owner.

EDIT: and the day that happens, I will cry.

I thanked that post simply for the last line

    From another site:

Under Rob Ryan, Cowboys allowed 5,687 yards. Most in their history

Not real happy with the move but we werent dominate in his 2 years either
    ____

Exactly. People keep talking about the injuries but fail to note that Dallas gave up a ton of points before the injuries as well. A lot of people point to the Sean Lee injury as the watershed moment of the season but in the first five games this they gave up 27, 34 and 31 points. Rob Ryan has only had a defense ranked in the top half of the league once (13th) in his nine year career as a coordinator.

I was under the impression that Dallas suffered a ton of injuries on the defensive side of the ball... could be wrong. I guess it's not necessarily an excuse.

Along with the fact the injuries to Clayborn and Jenkins in the secondary, along with Ware at times... I mean they did not have the best situation and playing in there division it will be hard to have a top10 defense playing the Giants, Bucs, and Redskins twice a year on top of injuries to your pass rushers and secondary.

I know we're all sick and tired of the Jets, with very good reason, but if Rex hires Rob, I want Hard Knocks back in Jersey.
