You know how hippos are made out to be sweet and silly, like big cows, but are actually extremely dangerous and can kill you with stunning brutality? The Pacers are the NBA's hippos....Matt Moore CBS Sports....

Can Bird also "help out" Roy Hibbert and Gerald Green ?
Bird already said what needed to be said. Hibbert still has not taken it to heart.

    he is SOFT.

Bird can do only so much. its up to Hibbert from here.

I wonder if Bird would have matched Portland's offer keep Hibbert? I'm not sure he would have. Could be wrong.

HAHAHA, I ran your story by my father-in-law, and he confirmed it....Of course, it also sent him on a whirlwind of other Larry stories, but those are all still fun to hear....

my hunch is NO as well. He would have went aggessively after Kaman i bet. maybe that explains to some degree the Plumlee pick - potential for Hibbs to not resign. that ones TBD.

really hard to say since Hibbs was one of "his guys"

guess on the bright side i would prefer the MAX contract to Hibbs over the one we gave JO. at least Hibbs is eligible to play most nights.

Larry likes tough guys that are winners. Ron is/was a nutcase but no one will say he's not tough or doesn't want to win. Same thing with Lance. Danny has always been one of Larry's guys..why? Because he's a tough guy and a winner. Why did Larry want GHIll so much? B/c he's tough and a winner.

What was Larry? He was one of the toughest of the tough guys and a winner. He believes in guys that are tough and winners.

I think he stopped believing in Roy along the way because he's not as tough as Larry would like for him to be.

Larry believed/believes in Lance almost more than he believed in PG. Why? B/c Lance was tougher when he came into the league. But PG is starting to show beginnings of that toughness that everyone's been clamoring for him to get.

Larry is very big on his players being mentally/physically tough. That's why he was so upset with the team when they lost to Miami and called them "soft". I don't think it was the fact they lost... it was the fact that they fell apart mentally.

    one helluva post.

    edit
    * the teams he coached were 98-00 were tough. he traded Dampier for mullin. i nvr agreed witht that move but now i realize he wanted a solid nba veteran to go with Reggie. Dampier would not have helped at all in 00 vs the lakers. but Antonio would of. dont get me wrong. bender had he been healthy would have far exceeded AD. for that one playoff series vs LA Antonio would have helped significantly.

**** the phantom 4 point play. **** the nba.
