When you consider that this team is playing 4 on 5 most times since Roy is basically a zero on offense. Then, when we run our 2nd unit out there, we have two horrendous defenders in Augustin and Green. Really astounded that we even have a winning record. Shows how important West, Hill, George and Lance are.
It's obvious that Roy did very little to work on his game last summer. His footwork is worse, he is so weak that he gets pushed off his base easily. He is worthless with his back to the basket. Why even set up an offense where that is an option?
We are unbelievably bad at back-up pt. guard. Must be fixed and fixed soon.
Good news? Mahinmi is playing better and better. AND, when Danny comes back we should have 7-8 solid players.
I wouldn't call it a "miracle". This is still a very good team and while Danny is one of the biggest players on this team and the leader, it's a team effort.
Overall, we are a much better team than we were last season. Our key guys have all improved a lot and Roy has slowly began to get back to where he was a year ago offensively. Defensively, he's been solid more often than not. The bench is better (minus the backup PG).
We can really hit the gas once Danny returns, but it won't happen overnight. He'll slowly have to adjust to his big minutes and some guys will have roles changed.
Nonetheless, there's plenty to look forward to between the Pacers and Indiana sports in general.
Let's not get too carried away after this Hawks loss. The Pacers have struggled in Atlanta for years to the tune of 11 games in-a-row. The record is real and you can argue that they should have at least 2 more wins.
We're winning at a pace that has us on pace for 45-50 wins. We are a good team, and we will continue to beat both the inexperienced and the untalented teams in the league. I don't really understand why people are so upset with our record or even our record against winning teams. Our wins against those teams would give us one of the very best records in the league. Without Granger, that's not really our identity.
I think DJ's previous demotion in hopes of motivating him isn't working. Get back to Ben or make a move for a really quality backup pg might improve the bench. I still can't get over why the FO didn't try to sign Jarrett Jack when he started playing better than TJ Ford years back?
