Vogel should be east coach. Him or Mike woodson, but I guess that got settled last night

If games are won and lost on a calculator and piece of paper, then why do we bother to play them?

Totally agree on PG but I don't think there is any way David West makes it.
Varejao won't be there for sure now (2 months, surgery) so that leaves a little crack open for David.

To be honest, time off might be better for David though.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

I was wrong, I think. Paul is gonna make the ASG. I was probably wrong that no one would make it.

Paul George will go. He has been getting a lot of cover this past week. Nothing but good i hear from all the analysts.

I wouldn't say you were wrong. Just answering a question before it should have been asked. He wasn't worthy of a spot at the point this thread was created. That's changed recently.

I can't argue with you. My only comment is I believe the coaches reward players on the best teams. Pacers are one of the best teams so I think a lot of the coaches will think they deserve two allstars and those coaches who believe that will vote for West and Paul George. Also depending on when the votes were sent in, it might help West. I mean if a they voted a week ago a coach might vote for West instead of Paul. Where as if they vote today Paul would get their vote, unless they believe the pacers deserve two AS's
Paul's ASG is his to lose at this point. He doesn't even have to rip off a bunch of 25-5-5 games now, just maintain a solid level where he's scoring 18-25 and then some nights getting 2-3 steals or 3-4 assists or 10 rebounds, but not all of those factors at once. And every time he does all of it, that just makes even more of a lock.

I agree on West too. People forget the 30 point games earlier in the season where he faced doubles and had no other offensive help. After the GSW game all of Pacers Nation would have sent West over Paul. West has a chance to still EARN his way in, but he'll have to knock out several 20+ nights on better than 50% shooting and keep the rebounds in the 8-9 range over the next few weeks. If he hadn't slumped then I think his numbers plus the Pacers winning would make it easy to put 2 Pacers on the team.

Now the Pacers making a run at the #1 seed to get Vogel in the coaching seat...seems premature but on the other hand its a very realistic goal. And let's be fair, if the Pacers have the #1 East record then Vogel is going to be getting as much national love as local love.

You know people see the Pacers in the standings and want to know how they got there, so they look into the numbers. And the more they see the Pacers as not having "stars" the more it raises their view of Vogel. I mean does anyone not think Mark Jackson looks pretty vindicated in GSW right now?

If G. Hill bumps his stats back up and the Pacers keep winning at this pace, he has an outside shot too we are firmly the 1 or 2 seed and he is averaging 15, 5, and 5, we know coaches love the guy. Granted that's a little bit ahead of where we are, but no one would have guessed Paul was going to explode like this either.

There are too many good point guards in the East. No way does he get consideration over any of Kyrie Irving, Jrue Holiday, or Deron Williams. And obviously Rajon Rondo has a spot locked up.

Twelve. They have the starters lumped in as backcourt or frontcourt but for the coach's selections position doesn't matter but they aren't taking 7 bench guards or bigs. You can count on at least 3 guards and 3 bigs with one of that group getting a 4th.

He basically is. Even after his last two statistic stinkers he's at 14.5, 5, and 4.4. The problem is his competition all has considerably better numbers than 15, 5, and 5.

Hill is having a great year. Far better than I expected. But the East is full of good lead guards. And unfortunately for his All-Star chances, none of them are going to be getting old anytime soon.

I voted for West in this thread, but at this point it would be very disappointing if Paul doesn't make the All Star team. The 3rd best record in the East (and we are better than the Knicks). Paul is our best player, how does he not make it?

    Here is your answer:
    Lebron
    Wade
    Carmello
    Pierce
    Josh Smith
    Joe Johnson

Paul isn't at their level yet

Paul and Joe Johnson have very similar scoring numbers right now, but Paul blows him away in every other category.

On NBA's official site PG is still listed as a shooting guard so his chances get a lot better just from that. And give me PG over Johnson any day of the week. Offensively he may outshine Paul, atleast when it comes to straight up Iso, but PG passes, rebounds and defends. If people can't take their star shaded lenses off long enough to see that then I'll have to give up on my fellow basketball fans.

??? Obviously Lebron... but he's no question better than Pierce, J Smith, and Joe Johnson. No one would take any of them over PG at this point.

I honestly think the PG of the past X weeks since his bad West Coast trip is an OVERALL better player than Melo and Wade... but that's obviously pretty subjective.

Of all the perimeter players in the East, I think Paul George is the biggest lock to be selected as an All-Star reserve (knowing that Rondo, LeBron, Wade, and Melo will be voted in). I'd be shocked if he didn't make it, especially with how he's turning it up these past few weeks.

West's problem is a numbers issue. If Garnett gets voted in over Bosh (and KG's taking someone's spot), then it's really going to be tough for West. Bosh, Chandler, Noah, and Smith/Horford are probably all going to be voted in ahead of West. You could make an argument for Brook Lopez ahead of West as well. You have those 4, plus 3 perimeter players (probably Paul Pierce and either one of Holiday, Deron Williams, or Jennings, along with George), and West may be caught in a numbers game.

So Pacer fans should be stuffing the ballot box for Chris Bosh if you want a better chance at 2 all stars.

I don't want West to be an All-Star. He really needs the rest that comes from the ASB.
