Default Quinn Bucknerisms and Other Funny Moments 2012

...either at Pacers games or during broadcasts this year. I'll start it off:

    1) Quinn summoning the spirit of Shakespeare in the 12/21 game vs. Cleveland: "That's much to-do about nothing."

    2) I heard a fan at BLF say "Hey, that's Bo Dietl" after seeing Eddie White walk by. I actually see some resemblance myself between Eddie and the Subway guy. Twins?

of course the good old days when Dunleavy played 30mpg and Paul George got DNP-CDs or didn't dress.

I love Quinn. There was a game last year in which he combined Roy and Hibbert to create Ribbert.

My favorite thing about Buckner is the amount of joy he gets out of watching Lance screw up. Every time Lance throws a bad pass or wildly misses a lay up Quinn responds with a big "I'm glad I'm not coaching him" laugh.

Mark me down as the wet blanket, but Buckner is my least favorite Pacers color commentator in my lifetime. Now I know I was spoiled by getting Clark Kellogg for most of my life. Clark is the absolute best, bar none in the business. Informative, smoothe, balanced, knew just when to add enthusiasm, and was never over the top. Since apparently he is not an option, I much prefer Croshere over Buckner. Buckner is probably better for the casual fan on TV. But I maintain anyone watching the Pacers play the Hornets on a Friday night is NOT a casual fan. Buckner is too "Mr. Obvious" for me. Plus he is always attempting to tell me what a player is thinking at any given time.

Finally he is just comedic when Hibbert gets in the post. If Hibbert waits, gathers himself and scores then Buckner says "see, Roy waited. Didn't rush. No need to rush. Be patient and make a move." If Roy scores after a quick move immediately after receiving the ball Buckner says, "thats right. Don't wait. Get into right away. Don't let your defender establish himself."

Of course if Roy misses his shot then Buckner then says that he should do the opposite of whatever he just tried whether that be a fast move or slow move.

On a positive note. Quinn and I do agree about the 3 point line. We both wish it didn't exist.

I love Quinn personally. He is one of the funniest guys, and he knows what he's talking about. Every time he gets excited about a play, I can't help but laugh, and celebrate at the same time.

This thread should be good - plenty of material to draw from. I used to hate listening to Quinn and all his gibberish, but I have to admit that he's grown on more a bit this year and I can occasionally appreciate him. Sometimes I can laugh at the Bucknerisms. Sometimes they still get on many nerves. I also notice his contradicting himself like Diamond Dave referenced above which is very annoying. But, hey, that's not what this thread is about. Lets just record all the Bucknerisms through the season and have some good laughs from them

Quinn Buckner's accomplishments in the basketball world have been equalled by very few.

When Quinn talks, I listen... And he is very funny to listen to, especially when he gets
excited over something. Just an all-around great guy, and asset to the Pacers and the
community. We're lucky to have him.

I'm just the opposite. I get stomach pains when I have to listen to Croshere. Oddly enough, the same thing happened when I watched him play.

Oh no no no. I disagree Dave. Croshere is more a "Mr. Obvious" to me, and he seems like a mixture of an Alphie and Teddy Ruxpin doll. He has the same ten statements or just repeats what Denari said.

Despite all the fun "Bucknerisms" I have ever heard. When I think of off the wall color comments, I can't help but remember Clark Kellogg's best comment ever in 2010 when Andre Miller drove to the basket for a score. "Ooh, Good fruit from the tree of penetration". Denari was rendered speechless there for a moment.

Give me the KFC bucket chart all game. Just so I can hear him say buckets.

When he starts giggling and Denari tries to continue calling the game and after 2 min of giggling he goes "Partner, I'm sorry but..."

I just laugh uncontrollably when he giggles, like its contagious.

    Quinn Buckner drinking game

1 drink everytime he giggles uncontrollably.
2 drinks everytime he gets so excited he starts mushing words together.
3 drinks is he uses a legit catchphrase.

Now that you say it I do remember that. Clark is the best. I like that he makes food the basis for his analogies and metaphors. "Yea, thats an offensive foul. Got him with that chicken wing partner." Two of my favorites were on two seperate Dale Davis misses, self rebounds, and put backs. He once called it "Bagging your own groceries," and another time "Salting your own ham."

As a part time color guy myself, I like Quinn, I liked Clark, and I like Austin. They each bring their own style to the task and they execute it well.

Austin especially has been an incredibly fast learner. He's a natural.

I hate it when I turn on the Game and AC is on the broadcast. Its not that Austin doesn't do a good job its just that I really enjoy Quinn's style of broadcasting, his laugh, and sense of humor.

Clark is one of the greats. I hope he never completely gives up color work and it sucks he can't still do it for the Pacers.

I ran into him at the last draft party and basically told him just that. If you are good at something you should appreciate it and keep at it, and be careful to not take it for granted and forget how special the skill is.

I love that he's having a good time... and I do appreciate his poorly-verbalized enthusiasm. He's a pretty large Pacer homer in a lot of his calls. But he's not my favorite commentator in the world. I long for Kellogg, but hell I even like Croshere's commentary better. AC has come a looooong way from his fairly awkward post-game bits and 10-min long run-on sentences; he's actually pretty good now.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.
