Oh man you guys need to follow this link. Hollinger's analysis of Augustin, Rose, and Westbrook.

    http://www.pacersdigest.com/showthre...over-Westbrook

    Trade Augustin to Memphis!
Should I call up Memphis and tell them it's not too late to change their minds on Hollinger over me for the job.

I said it elsewhere, DJ played straight up vs Rose and Chalmers and neither game went well. He got torn up on defense and forced his own offense going the other way.
    ...
During the year I started off coolish about Rose myself, same with Gordon. But seeing Rose progress took me out of the "should wait a year" to "he's ready to go". Contrast this with Collison and DJ who both started fairly well in my view and lost a bit when they hit some tough challenges.
Frankly I don't think Hollinger was watching enough NCAA ball. Seems like in that regard he was simply doing stats games with players and that's a lot trickier in such an uneven competition level. I found that you had to ignore numbers for the most part and look at the type of plays a player was making: NCAA caliber vs NBA caliber. When you watch enough NBA you know what plays and moves will work at the next level. That's how you could see Harangoody put up numbers at ND but know that his methods weren't going to translate very well, while Love was a very good NBA prospect despite seeming similar to him in some simplistic ways.

anybody think Brooklyn would send us Marshon Brooks and Josh Childress for Miles Plumlee, Sam Young and a 1st round pick?

No way would they give up Brooks for that.

why? Brooks is a better scorer, but outside of that Young is a better defender and rebounder, plus Plumlee can be their backup center, and a first round pick where they can get someone like Brooks

I agree with BCC. The offer of a first would probably be enough. Adding Miles is just putting icing on the cupcake.

FWIW, the Pacers really don't need Brooks. When Danny returns, a wing rotation of Lance, Paul and Danny is pretty good. And if Danny doesn't return, Brooks isn't good enough to keep the Pacers competitive.

    He's got good potential.

I do remember Danny and Marshon being not too happy with each other during a game last year. It seemed to get quite personal.

Seems like the sort of thing I'd rather not have around, just IMO.

I would think we'd want to get a point guard back. If Ben Hansbrough is our primary backup PG all season (no offense to him), we are in trouble.

Andre Miller for Green, Augustine. Denver saves 1.5 million over next three years.
If games are won and lost on a calculator and piece of paper, then why do we bother to play them?

Basketball wise, that's terrible for Denver.

Apparently both Jennings and Tyreke Evans are being shopped - any interest on them? Color me intrigued..

Ha, yea. I meant to include our 1st. With that said, I think it could work for both teams. Gerald Green is much more suited for Denver ball. I cant argue that Augustin is at an all time low, but he does have talent and is a cheap expiring contract.

I think a realistic trade might be DJ for Aminu

They lack a backup and DJ is from there so maybe that can motivate him with a change of scenery. Aminu is clearly a goner they didn't pick up the option and Dom McGuire who they picked up off the street yesterday played more minutes tonight than him.

I wouldn't expect much from Amuinu if we get him though he hasn't been good this year at all. However he is a very good rebounder and solid defender, and I could see him playing at the 4 with the backup unit he wold give us another wing defender who is versatile enough to play the 4.

id be ok with dj for aminu. not sure how it helps us out now, but he is talented. lot of wings for us though.

We basically have the Hansbroughs, DJ, Green, and maybe Young to trade. Not going to get much back. All of those deals are exp except Green. I think we need to ship out Green and spend that money on Lance this summer.

I think Aminu is close to the higher end of players that we could hope to get for Augustin. DJ's only real value right now is as a player with an expiring contract that has about a 1-in-20 chance of actually contributing on the floor.

id agree djs value is terribly low, but i do think wherever he goes. he will contribute.

I think we should just stand pat and hope he figures it out.. and if he actually does turn it around and do a complete 180, to how he SHOULD be playing things will be all good in Pacerland.... If at that time he has earned being retained to another contract with us then we give him a 1 year and go from there..Otherwise, just let him expire.... DJ is way too good of a player to all of a sudden have his career die by playing this horrid... I just do not understand it... But I do NOT want to make some stupid trade giving up our assets or young /new players on the team that I may like... just to get some other teams bargain basement player(s) in hope that a change of scenery will magically make them great pickups for the Pacers...

Plumlee reminds me of a young Dale Davis. Good rebounding and he contests shots well on defense and his offensive game is very raw just like DD's was coming out of college.

    Here's a shot at a 3 team trade between LA/IND/MIN:

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=bembgk5

DJ/Tyler, Roy/Barea to LA, Derrick Williams/Stiemsma to IND, Pau to MIN.

Obviously couldn't happen because the Lakers would want a couple bigger names, but with their issues at the 1 they may do something. You could even swap out Roy/Barea for Love I imagine.

This one is better, IND is what makes it work for Minny/LA:

I wouldn't want us to include a 1st. to fix a mistake that our front office made during free agency.
We should have received a 1st. when we moved DC to make room for Augustin. Just on general principle we can't give up a 1st. now to move him.
Dump him is we can but otherwise just wait it out, it's only a few months now. We'll survive with Lance as the backup once Granger returns. If Granger doesn't return we don't need to worry about it anyway.

Same with Danny and Barbosa and that worked well here (from the standpoint of getting along at least).

I would think the Spurs would want a more experienced backup and trade Cory Joseph or Nando de Colo.

Then give them Hans for Splitter.

If only for once someone could get the best of Spurs management.
DJ for Nando and Tyler for Splitter would be an absolute steal for us. I don't see it happening, though. The Spurs know better than that

He's been a bust. Wouldn't mind trading him for a quality player and/or draft pick

I noticed this morning McGuire had been picked up by them. He was never starting material for the Raptors... even in a pinch.
