Star is a subjective term. I personally think more than half of being a star is media perception and intangibles. Media makes stars based off of storylines.

All the media stuff comes along with the success. If Paul George keeps playing like this and we are winning games the media will slowly come. Winning brings everything! It don't matter if it small market or big market, winning will bring in players.

As far as media goes, West is featured on the title image of this weeks ESPN power ranking.

I dunno. Hard to consider an agnostic a believer.

I remember just a few weeks ago when people were ready to give up on him. These past 9 games are why you never trade a 22 year old who is as freakishly talented as Paul George. He has the potential to be one of the most efficient scorers in Pacers history. Not to mention the defense......

I think the thing a lot of folks are missing is something I said back when we were talking about what Paul was before this explosion. He was already really good. Already IMO a top 20 wing player in the NBA when you consider going both ways. To me this scoring explosion is still unexpected, but I couldn't be more pleased because I was already really happy with where he was. Even if he had stayed a 14 ppg, 6 rpg, 4 apg, 2 spg guy for the rest of his career that's still really good. Those guys don't grow on trees and if you don't believe me look at how Andre Igoudala is viewed around the NBA.

I don't know that he is becoming a star or whatever, he could go back to what he was before these 9 awesome games and I'd still be pretty pleased, so I can't really answer no, because if he does go back to what he was I wouldn't describe that as "timid". My only complaint with him early on this season was his low FG%.

My problem with Paul George was that at the start of the season, he was sulking and just staying in the perimeter shooting 3's. Some people seemed content with him being a very good defender and occasionally having a high scoring game. That itself is not bad at all. He has the potential though to be a top scorer day in day out. Him, being in that condition lately, i firmly believe is not a firework but what he can be all the time.

Paul has become slightly more aggressive, but it's not like he is taking a lot more shots per game than he did early in the season. They are just actually falling. That's the biggest change from early November to Thanksgiving Paul George and current Paul George IMO.

Compare Nov. PG to Dec. PG

    Nov. PG
    5.2 FGM/Game
    13.3 FGA/Game

    2.2 3PM
    5.7 3PA

    1.7 FTM
    2.2 FTA

    Dec. PG

    7.5 FGM
    15.6 FGA

    2.3 3PM
    5.5 3PA

    2.8 FTM
    3.3 FTA

So Paul's not really shooting less 3's. He's getting to the line one more time a game and hitting that extra free throw, and he's hitting the 2 extra shots he has been attempting basically. I don't think Paul has changed that much. The shots have fallen more than they did. He was already a really good player. I think describing early season Paul George as sulking or timid is a misnomer personally.

While I agree his shot has been falling, but I'm still surprised every time I see him knife through the lane. The guy used to get the ball, jab step, then pass it. Now he gets it and he's ready to get in traffic to do something. Pass, score, dunk, turnover, shoot, doesn't matter, I'm just happy he was to get close to the bucket when he gets the ball. I was sure he wasn't going to get there as a player this year.

I agree he's finishing in the lane more than he ever has in his career, but to me these are not really new shots. We have been seeing him make amazing drives really since beginning of last year, but then after this amazing move to the hoop he would btoch the finish. Now he is either going in strong with a hard layup (no more dumbass finger rolls) or he is looking to turn someone into a poster (Hello Spencer Hawes)

I don't think he was sulking, I think he was adjusting to being the man. Since the Golden State game, to quote Michael Grady, Paul George is beginning to believe.

Which reminds me, I need to get back to work on the video I'm working on around that premise....

Give Brian Shaw some credit too. I think he busted Paul's *** after those two bad games in Sacto and GS. Not in a sense of you suck, but I do think in the sense of you are a good player, but if you want to take the next step you better start doing the things required otherwise just accept that you are a good player and stop talking about how good you are going to be. I think Paul has been a little more humble on twitter since those two games.

Eh, I agree a little, but I still think it's been a completely different guy with aggressiveness and how often he drives. It's like he said "I don't care if I can't dribble, I'm getting closer to basket." It's been a great surprise.

The difference to me is that he has been aggressive in getting his mid range shot off and driving to the lane. He's such a good shooter at this point that he will shoot over you if you sag off him and drive if you play him close or bite on his pump fakes.

It also helps that he's been looking to posterize people for the last month. I never saw that kind of fire from him before. He's playing to embarrass people now and has been way more vocal on the court. I think a switch just went off, honestly. All good players have that "moment" where everything just clicks.

Yeah probably not the correct choice of word but I was frustrated with him nonetheless.

Damn, he even was fouled on that play.

I seriously can't wait till he posterizes someone like he almost did Hawes. That was half way down and would of been beautiful. I can't remember the last time I saw a Pacer posterize someone.

He did it to Dwight Howard but it didn't count.
