Let me recommend the movie "Zodiak" It just came out on DVD. Probably the best movie I've seen this year.

    Hey Mourning,

Have you seen "The Lookout" yet. I'm just curious to know if you liked it as much as I. The only reason I didn't say that the Zodiak is by far the best movie I've seen this year is because The Lookout I like about as well.

Zodiac was good, but I'm debating on if I'll ever pick it up on DVD. Aside from the fact that I'm cooling off on buying movies that I'll probably only watch once ever 1-3 years, that movie was also fairly disturbing to me when I saw it. Of course, now that I know what to expect it won't be that bad.

I read that the DVD that just came out as very few extras, and next year they will be coming out with a directors cut and a lot of extras. (although most movies do that now - multiple DVD releases - I hate it though because I want the extras but I'd like to see it again, but I certainly am not going to buy it twice)

Yeah, I watched the trailer after you recommended it the last time. Looked promissing, haven't really seen if it's in the cinema's here yet... I'm pretty sure I will see it on a short term íf it's here allready .

Waiting for the third "Bourne" movie, aswell as that new movie with Jennifer Lopez in it (don't like her btw) about that Mexican bordertown (is it Juarez?) where several hundred women got murdered and dumped in the desert in the last 10-15 years or so. I remember that story from the news a few years ago... don't know if the movie is any good yet, but the story is "interesting" IMO.

Btw I like movies that "touch" me "move", "thrill" or generally topics that interest me... beying disturbed might be one of those things too, though I would never buy something like "Hostel" which was INCREADIBLY bad! Movie has to have quality.

Special Effects... you know I like those just like everyone, but the plot and story go first... there are only a few exceptions for me in that regard.

Some examples of what I like: Flight93, Traffic, Requiem of a Dream, The Pianist, Warriors, Crash, One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest, La Vita E Bella, Silence of the Lambs, Aliens, Once Upon a Time in the West, Der Untergang (Downfall), Sophy Scholl, High Fidelity, The Killing Fields, Schindler's List, Fight Club, The Thin Red Line, Raging Bull, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Everything is Illuminated, American History X, the Bourne Movies, the LOTR-trilogy, etc.

    Regards,

    Mourning

If you like Darren Aronofsky, you might wanna check out The Fountain.

It was pretty odd, but in a good way. I still have very little idea what happened, and can't really confirm if what I thought happened actually did happen, but it was thought-provoking and very different from most things you'll ever see.

    The Simpsons Movie.

About what I expected: Occasional laughs, but basically it's a hollow shell of what made the show great in the early 90's (just like the show itself has been for a decade).

I take it I was right in assuming that was the funniest part of the movie?

Rented 3 over the past few days.

Premonition - Just OK. The plot was good but it needed more scenes that had real biting emotional impact. About halfway through the movie you pretty much knew the rough outlines of the rest of it. Another tact might have been to cover fewer days, go into more detail for each day and for Bullock's character to not realize what was going on until right at the end.

Zodiac - Good movie but I guess I don't give it the raves some of you have. Nothing to really criticize - thought it was well done and it was certainly engrossing but I don't consider it one of the best I've seen this year.

The Number 23 - I really liked this - better than Zodiac actually. Real interesting in-depth look at obsession and the roots of pathological behavior. When you start mimicking character behaviors partway through a movie you know it has you.

    The Simpsons Movie.

It was the first Simpsons thing I've ever watched, and it was boring.

Yep. Prior to seeing that movie, I'd never watched the Simpsons, South Park, or any Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

People like freak out when I tell them that.

    ZODIAK

This extremly long movie was to slow for my taste, to boring, to much "bla bla bla" that I almost fell asleep, sometimes it got interesting tho... but 3 (4??) hours later i left with a momentary thrill and a sore a**.

I really cant say it was bad either because it had its moments (very few).. But i cant say it was one of the best movies of 2007.

Movies like these were MUCH better than Zodiac i think...

    "Grindhouse"
    "The Lookout"
    "Hot Fuzz"
    "Black Snake Moan"
    "28 weeks later"

    etc....

I liked "The Lookout" very much. Hot Fuzz was also good.

Seraphim Falls. If you like metaphysical endings to your westerns this is for you. I prefer one guy killing the other like we did it when we were men.

Pan's Labyrinth. I liked it a lot. Only David Bowie could have made it better.
