Just got through watching the Hunger Games and Catching Fire this past weekend. I got to see a small part of the Hunger Games a few weeks ago and when the set came out together my daughter had to have it that day. We made a date of it and watched both of them. Now can't wait for Mocking Jay to come out in November. My daughter has already set a date with me to see it at the movies. Father/daughter time is so special.

Love is a Many Splendored Thing- I still liked it despite its many flaws

Uptown Girls- Charming movie kind of surprised at how serious it was.

Running Scared- The plot was trite but I think Gregory Hines/Billy Crystal's buddy chemistry carried this film

Venom- a very meh horror flick

Just watched Valve's Dota 2 documentary that followed three of the players in the first International. As a fan of the game it was quite enjoyable. Thought they did a good job on it. Here it is on youtube

    Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Meh. The fight sequence on top of the train was pretty cool though, but that was about it.

    Requiem for a Dream

This was the first time I have watched this movie in about 10 years, and the first time I've watched it in anything approaching HD on a large TV. That movie...good god. It's intense, well made, and crushingly depressing.

I wasn't a fan of all the sepia tones, plus everyone involved are a bunch of tools...

    Noah.

I was at the first screening. This movie didn't have much to do with the Bible account at all. The only things in common is there's an ark in the movie, a man named Noah with a wife and three sons, and only the eldest son has a wife. The rest of the movie is from a writers dark imagination.

    Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones(2014)

Not really sure why they made this movie with Part 5 coming out this Fall, but it ended up being a decent film if you like these kind of movies. This film did tie into the first Paranormal in an interesting way at the end. This film also brought some new ideas to a series which isn't dead yet.(although some probably wish it was)

Pretty good action movie. Lots of head shots and knife stabs to the face.

But did the story itself have a biblical feel? I mean, if the guy wasn't named Noah or there wasn't an ark involved would it change your feelings on it?

Biblical feel? No not at all, because it went off at a 90 degree angle from the real account. It had something of a zombie movie feel. I hate zombie movies.

No. Without Noah and the ark it's just another dark apocalypse movie. I read about it and watched the trailer. I was hesitant to go, but I decided I could go see the movie Son of God right afterwards. Instead I was in a "bah humbug" mood and went home.

I thought about walking out. The theater was rather full and I had chose a seat one over from the isle. Then a woman pushing a guy in a wheelchair came in and there was no place for them down front. So she parked the wheelchair and they started up my isle.(he could walk with difficultly) She was pointing to some seats in the center a couple rows lower than where I was seating. So I just got up and moved over two seats. That let them have the two seats on the isle. I'm telling you this because twice I thought about getting up and walking out but didn't want to disturb them because it was so hard for the guy to walk. (he was missing an arm too)

If you like zombie movies you will probably like it, otherwise I suggest this is one you might rent.

One of those, "What the ..." 90 degree angles!

I think seeing them was one of the times I thought about leaving.

Some people do like it, but I think they probably like zombie movies too.

Let me clarify, was it biblical in the sense of the themes or narrative?

Owning Mahony- While I thought PSH was great in it the movie was dull.

Just enough that you knew the movie was about Noah and the ark.

Getting excited for the Captain America WS, but haven't seen Thor2 yet. Hoping that I don't miss out on some sort extra detail because of that.

Though the plot line of Winter Solider has me quite....well I dunno how to explain it. Sometimes a movie has an obvious plot hole that keeps me from totally enjoying it, and its usually a plot hole that makes the movie unnecessary. For instance. Now that we have an Avengers team that consists of Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Hawk Eye, and Thor...A GOD. How is anyone supposed to take this new Villian seriously? A cybernetic Arm? I'd think Hulk or Thor could just rip the damn thing off. Even if this guy is about the same strength as the Cap.... those guys would have the ability to just destroy him in seconds.
