Default Pacers turned down by Lakers on Gasol trade?

I hesitate to post this because I can't find this anywhere on the net. But watching NFL recap on PMSESPN tonight and I honestly promise that one time it scrolled at the bottom of the screen that LAL turned down the Pacer's trade offer for Gasol. And that's all it said. I waited patiently for it to repeat and it never did.

So, maybe someone else saw this or knows about it already. No mention of whom the Pacers were trading.

    Anyone?

I'm not even going to say this one is true and accurate. But I did see it.

I can't find it, but I don't know who we would be trading unless the team has soured on Hibbert quickly.

I think you misread it or someone made a typo or something.

Since it never scrolled at the bottom of the screen again. I am thinking it may have been incorrect to begin with. And, yes, I could have read it wrong. But it is odd nothing about the Lakers or Pacers ever scrolled again.

Have you seen how high Green can jump and heard how loudly DJ dribbles the ball? That's a steal for LA.

There is nothing on the Internet that combines the search terms Lakers Pacers Gasol trade. However, there are multiple mentions of two teams inquiring about Gasol's availability within the last 3-4 days. One of the teams was definitely the Raptors, with the second team most likely the TWolves.

I guess I'm not going to post the trade rumor for the current best center in the NBA for the future best center of the NBA, it was reported that LA liked the interview

I still think Houston can/will end up making a run at a big. Lin for Pau? Hahaha

Well if we were going to trade for Pau, we would have to trade Granger, Roy, or West to make it work. I don't see the Lakers wanting an injured Granger plus they don't need a small forward. They have Dwight so they have no use for Roy either, so West would be the most likely center piece from us.

West and Pau are both power forwards so I could see the Lakers wanting West. However Pau makes $19m and West makes $10m, so we would have to include another player or two. Green and Augustin make $3.5m each, Hans a little over $3m, and Ian makes $4m. I could see us adding Augustin and one of the others, because we would have Pau for another year, and he could move to center when Roy is out.

However it wasn't repeated so it was probably just a mess up.

Hope you're kidding cause Lin is being shown as a 15 minute of fame fraud at the moment. His stats are total garbage, I mean I disliked how much (the years) the Pacers paid for George Hill, but 3 years of Lin must be awful. The Knicks must be thanking their lucky stars Houston was so desperate.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

How about a trade of David West, DJA, and Gerald Green for Pau Gasol? I think that trade would work after December 15th.

I don't know why the Pacers would do that trade with Pau making over 20 million next year and I think David West is a much tougher player that fits the Pacers defensive style better. I think that trade would put them slightly over the tax threshold too.

    David is tougher, sure.

    He's also better.

Why would you guys want to trade West for Gasol? West gets 1/2 his money and plays much better. With Granger out he's been by far our best and most consistent player.

    Yes, it was a joke.

I don't know how Houston could get Pau. I mean, I'd think you'd have to go Lin, Cook (Expiring), Patterson, White or something. To get to the $19M that they need to send out to get Pau is nearly impossible, so I suppose it can't happen.

A deal that works is Devin Harris (Making $8.5M) and Josh Smith (Making $13.5M) for Pau and Steve Blake.

I think that there never was nor never will be any interest in the Pacers acquiring Pau Gasol. Doing so would totally redefine the term "cap hell" for the Pacers. We would lose any future flexibility of getting additional players by putting concentrating so much salary in only one player.

We are already in a bit of a pickle with Hibbert and Granger making so much, along with Hill and likely re-signings of West and George over the next couple of years. But at least that spreads most of our salary over 5 players. Having Gasol would probably mean that two of the other players would have to go. And after doing that, we then risk losing Gasol to free agency just a short time down the road.

This just seems like a certain path to starting all over again with massive roster changes in a couple of years.

Pau Gasol is old, injured, gets about $40m over the next 2 years, and most important sucked this year... His trade value has never been lower... A package around West and a filler should be more than enough to get it done...

I agree, and this might sound crazy, but I don't even know if I would trade D-West for him. The only reason I would is if we absolutely knew West would not resign with us after this year. Gasol might be more talented all around, but D-West has more leadership and toughness. If I had it my way I would keep D-West here till he retires.

Then Again, I wouldn't mind seeing a Gasol/Hibbert duo up front. I just don't know if it would work out because both of them have been called soft and what not.
