    Default Pacers/ Lakers/ Bucks

What do you guys think about this trade. I'm sure it can't be completed until Danny comes back, but I know that it would be financially approved by league rules.

Pacers Get- Pau Gasol, Monte Ellis

Lakers Get- David West, DJ Augustine

    Bucks Get - Danny Granger

I know it seems like a steal for the Pacers, but the Lakers are looking to rid themselves of Paus contract and find a PF who is more comfortable playing away from the basket. And Monte has an out in his contract after this season, so the Bucks are looking at it as an expiring anyway.

Adding Pau to our frontcourt would be awesome. And with George's surge. It might be a good time to make a HUGE move! A line-up of: Hill, Ellis, George, Gasol and Hibbert is VERY GOOD

Also, gives us an All-star lowpost scoring big that, can take some of scoring pressure off of Roy. And a combo guard who may not be the most efficient scorer, he gets to the rim and finishes. A good compliment to pauls game

West has been better than Pau this year... and gets about 1/2 his salary.
Monta is a pretty interesting player and I always thought he would be a good fit next to Hill (Hill can guard the big guard spot to lessen the effect of Monta's size), he can also create for others and run the offense. But. He expires this season. Do you really wanna trade Granger for an expiring?

I agree West has been better. But pau has been a headcase since his name was thrown into the Houston deal last year. Then he doesnt fit the dantoni system because he is a halfcourt system player, which is what we do. His contract has only one more year on it.

I would trade for Ellis only if he would agree to not opt out after this year, or if he would sign a sub 9 mil per extension.

Lets be honest Granger is gone after next year anyway unless he takes a substantial pay decrease.

I would take this deal and run with it. Monta is one of my favorite players.

We're giving up way too much for a chucker and a big overgrown baby who would come here and sulk the entire time.

A chucker? Really? A player that is a threat for 40 point games almost every night is a chucker?

Monte for Grainger I understand because he is a crazy good go to shower, but I still wouldn't want to do it. Danny is a key piece in our defense and Monte would just be hole. Plus I think Monte would come here and start to suck.

There is no way I trade west for Gasol. I'm not saying his market value isn't greater. I just don't want him on this team ESPECIALLY next to Roy.

How do you work around the 9.5 million extra salary the Pacers would have to take in the Gasol /West trade.

We could not take Gasol for West straight up, because as a team over the cap, we can't take back more than 125% of the value of the player going out. (West makes 10 Mil, so that would be Max 12.5 Mil in return).

The Lakers could take back considerably less, and could salary dump for peanuts to a team who is 19 Mil under the cap if they wanted to.

The only way we could do a Lakers only deal is to add Granger to the deal with Lakers and take back undesirable talent from the Lakers as fillers (THIS MEANS RON ARTEST) or bring in another team for a 3-team deal. We don't have to send back 19 Mil in salary to the Lakers, but we do have to take back within 125% of our outgoing salary to make the deal work within the leagues rules. This is why the deal that I have proposed would work under league rules.

    Cliffnotes Version
    Pacers Sending out $27 Million
    Taking Back $30 Million

    Lakers Sending out $19 Million
    Taking back $13.5 Million

    Bucks Sending out $11 Million
    Taking Back $13.1 Million

    Yes, very much so.

Hes shooting under 40%, plus he is a cancer. See what the Warriors are looking like without him. He is basically a slightly more skilled Nick Young.

What was Granger shooting again in his first two months last year?

I think they are pretty comparable. Ellis a better creator and Danny perhaps a bit more clutch. Granger has better advanced stats but Ellis makes players around him better more than Granger does. Both don't give much effort playing defense during regular season, but both can play good defense when they have to. Don't we have the best defense without Granger?

I could live with a simple Granger for Ellis swap. No to Gasol and his kicker trade.

Granger isn't a cancer though. So, no I wouldn't make that swap.

Just a matter of different views.

I see cancer as a disease that people can have, not what they can be.

And I find that Ellis handled the getting traded to a mediocre and one of the least attractive NBA teams very well, to be honest.
He is doing his job, he isn't complaining and yeah probably just waiting for an opportunity to leave. Nothing wrong with that IMO, he didn't asked to be traded to the Bucks.

I would say Milwaukee is just as desirable as Indy. Cancer means negative locker room presence.
