    Default Playoff Push

    Next four games:
    vs Tennessee
    @ Houston
    @ Kansas City vs Houston

I see the only loss coming at Houston and then they'll rap up the #1 seed and the division, which means they'll rest their stars in week 17, which means the Colts should win that one. The other two a definite win-able games. KC is 2-10 and Tennessee is 4-8. We could be 11-5 at the end of the year. Who would've thought?!?!?!

Pittsburgh and Cincy both won today to get to 7-5. Only problem for them is they play each other one more time so one of them has at least one more loss from that game. One of the two will finish no better than 10-6 and the one who wins that head to head match up likely makes the playoffs. Since the Colts own the tiebreakers with those two teams, 10-6 is the Colts magic number. They get to 10-6 and they are in. Every Pitt or Cincy loss from here on takes at least one win off the Colts total they need.

So basically, we have to take care of business. Honestly, I can't see the Texans taking it TOO easy after what we did to them for the longest time, but as long as we can beat Tennessee and KC we should be solid.

Who would have thought playoffs at this time last year.

We are guaranteed a spot if we win versus Tennessee and in Kansas City no matter what Pitt and Cincinnati do, besides maybe tie.

Strangely enough, if NE beats Houston and the Colts beat Houston twice (a very tall order) then you could win the division on the head-to-head tiebreaker, so long as you also beat KC and Tennessee. No other winning team in the league has a negative point differential. Kind of crazy to see a team win so many games like this.

That's because we were massacred on the road against Chicago, NYJ, and NE. Those three games severely skew that particular statistic. Chicago is a tough team and we were never going to go up there and win in Luck's first game. The Jets at that point still had a bit of confidence and were playing to save their season. Not to mention the Meadowlands can be a hostile place. New England is just a much better team and that game got out of control quickly.

We're winning the games against teams with comparable/worse talent levels.

I can't even imagine the media circus that will ensue if it ends up being Colts vs. Denver in the first round.

Could you imagine if we somehow upset Houston on the road, and beat Tenn and KC, that Pags first game back on the sidelines as head coach could be for the division title, obviously it's a pipe dream right now, but holy crap would that be a story line or what?

That's the match up I would like to see. Not because of confidence the Colts would win, but rather Freeney and Mathis would finally get their opportunity to (attempt) create havoc for Peyton.

It would be unlike anything we've ever seen.

Peyton goes back to pass...and he's sacked by Dwight Freeney!

    "Hey Peyton"
    "Hey Dwight"
"I can't tell you how long I've waited to do this to you. It feels better than I thought it would"
"Uh huh. Can you get off me please?"

Next play after sack, Peyton throws for the first of five TD passes on the day in a Denver beat down.

In the 'olden' days Manning could just let Freeney spin himself out of the play and then utilize a delayed handoff to the RB who could run for the hole a spinning Freeney had just created.... Then watch as the undersized but speedy defense got ran over by the RB as he shook off defenders until he was slowed enough he could be gang tackled and stopped.

I honestly think we have a shot to be Houston @ home even with their starters, look what happened when the emotions were high for Green Bay game, and with Pagano back it will be even more emotion than that, crowd will be wild, I like our chances

Or miss the playoffs. Not likely I know, but I already laid out the scenario by wich the Colts could miss the playoffs in the other thread.

I wanna beat Houston twice, and steal the division from them. That would make me so happy. But let's at least make the playoffs

That happened because we won a bunch of close games, and then in our losses, got absolutely blown out of the stadium. It's not near as bad as that differential looks.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

    interesting site: postseason probabilities:

    http://www.playoffstatus.com/nfl/nflpostseasonprob.html

Colts 98% chance to make the playoffs,
    36% chance to advance,
9% chance to advance to AFCCG, etc...

a mathematics model that IMO doesn't pass the smell test with the Texans at the top.

Whats wrong with it? I think if we play Baltimore then we have a decent shot to advance, no?
    Why so SERIOUS

The Texans having the highest odds of winning the Super Bowl, Falcons #2, and Ravens #7 are three things that are wrong with it. Seahawks are too low.

If you had to choose between two groups to have your SB winner, which would you pick:
    1) Texans, Falcons (they say 45%)
    2) Broncos, 49ers, Packers, Patriots (they say combined 43%).

    I'd take group 2 easily.

The stats seem to be weighting the whole season's play equally. It needs a recent performance bias, like Sagarin uses in his models
