I think it was discussed but AFAIK it didn't get changed...
    It did not get changed.

The logic, as I understand it, is to give a carrot to down-and-out teams while also promoting divisional rivalries and intra-division competition. Win your division and you will get a home playoff game, period. It has been a simple message.

Does it become unfair when a second-place 12-4 team must travel to play an first-place 8-8 team? Yes, that seems unfair. But is also makes winning your division a more important criteria than amassing a great record, and that 12-4 team failed to win its division.

Personally I would change the rule and have the team with the best record be the higher seed, but I think the owners are strongly opposed to a change.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

The reason Luck thrives in two minute is that he uses his legs more than he does the rest of the game, which right now buys him important time to make a decision, Luck makes his mistakes typically when he is trying to force an early throw in his progressions from the pocket.

Awesome. I'd love to see a Colts road game someday. I've never seen a game away from Indy. How is Ford Field? It looks extremely nice on TV.
It's a nice place. They have a guy who sings an annoying song every time they score. Hard to compare to Lucas, since I have only been in the nosebleeds in Lucas and only lower level at ford field. Lucas feels bigger. There crowd was kinda quiet until suh sacked luck early, then they sprung to life. I guess this was the third week in a row where they lost after leading in the fourth quarter so there fans were pretty tormented by the finish of this one, everyone was friendly even though I had colts gear on.

I don't think luck ran once until the fourth(1 qb sneak)

Yep and it's a little frustrating. Right now he is trying find his zen in the pocket, but he needs to move a little more than he is doing the past week or two.

Ndamukong Suh maintains he's not a dirty player, but his actions again have drawn the ire of an opposing player.
The Indianapolis Star reported that Suh and his teammates were seen pointing at, laughing and dancing over the Colts' Winston Justice after the Lions defensive tackle had knocked down the Indianapolis offensive tackle following cornerback Don Carey's interception Andrew Luck in the fourth quarter of Detroit's loss. Justice suffered a concussion on the play.

I've made my thoughts on Bob Lamey known here many times. I won't rehash them again. Suffice to say that listening to Kevin Lee take over yesterday was a breath of fresh air. Loved it.
I have often wondered if "Hockey Bob" (anyone else remember that nickname for Lamey?) is watching the same game as everyone else.

+1 with Luck having so much more in the talent department. Harbaugh got toughened up by dealing with a mean @ss in Mike Ditka all those years. Besides the Colts Indy Super Bowl winning season the Harbaugh Captain Comeback season will always be my favorite Indy Colt memories....PS.. this season is starting to reach that #3 level.

i would say it is a very well designed play, but just nobody covered Avery...

also, it almost looks like the corners, in the end zone, especially the one nearest to the sideline, sort of just let Avery score doesn't it?

As I watched Luck outrun Suh's fat *** to the corner on his 16 yard scramble, all I could do was smile.

I think this is the most pleasantly surprising season of any sports team I've ever followed. It might be cliche', but this really has been a storybook year.
How can you be happy with this? Unless they win the SB, this season will be a failure of epic proportions.

This year brought the fun back to football for me. Back with Peyton, wins were expected and losses were the end of the world. It's quite fun being able to celebrate a win, rather than thinking they almost gave it away.

I have been a very lucky sports fan the past year. Last year we got to experience the fun of the Pacers suddenly coming online and being really good, then I also got IU being a top 20 team a season earlier than expected, and now we are getting the Colts.

If you're a ND football fan you are getting an unexpected year there too. There is something special around Indiana sports right now. We are really fortunate. Butler kind of kicked it off with thier back to back championship game runs.

Ball St. football gets added to the list for me as well. These past two years have been really fun for Indiana sports.

We are well past the point of being a team that can make the playoffs. Now we are a team that you probably don't want to run into in the playoffs.

That's true, and it shows how spoiled we were. With Peyton, a 12 win season was to be expected, and a 10 win season like 2010 was looked at as a big disappointment. It got to the point where the only things that could get you really pumped up in the regular season were wins against New England or starting out a season 14-0. A season was judged completely by what happened in the playoffs, but that's just the way it is when you have one of the greatest ever in the prime of his career. You have lofty expectations.

It is certainly nice to get excited about any win against any team. It has a very different feel to it, and I like it.

I would suggest you guys enjoy it now too, because I think it won't be very long til 12 wins or better is the expectation every year.

True, especially since four of our games every year will be against lowly Tennessee and Jacksonville.

We will without question make a major push at winning the division next year. No way Houston starts out freaking 11-1 again.

I'd say we've got the rest of this year and then next year to enjoy this shiny new team feeling. Two years of drafts + two years of experience for Luck is going to equal really high expectations by year 3 I think.

Just imagine if we beef up our O-Line (shouldn't be that difficult if we are smart with our money and picks) and get our hands on some young stud running back. There would be no stopping us if we had a running back that commanded respect like Edge in his prime.

The idea that Luck could be an elite QB is a gift because we would only have Peyton for a few years and Luck could be around for awhile.

Some QBs are exciting to watch and some QBs aren't even though they may be good. Take Eli for example who is a good QB but not exciting. Luck is in that former group.

I'll take a stud running back if he falls in our lap, but I think Ballard with the beefed up O-line could be pretty damn good. I say spend the picks/cash on beefing up our D-line and DBs.
