Agreed. It might not technically be a must win, but practically it is. We can't go into Detroit with a 6-5 record. We gotta improve to 7-4 this week to give ourselves a comfortable lead on the wildcard.

Detroit may be having an off year, due to Calvin Johnson being on the cover of Madden '13, but their offense scares the hell out of me.

Stafford will shred the defense if we play like we did against the Patriots.

But yeah, Sunday is as close to a must-win as you can get. Let's go !!

I think the Bungles end up in one of the wild card slots. Talented team with an experienced QB (despite being only year 2) and defense capable of coming on enough in a timely fashion. Plus, the schedule doesn't look all that bad - Oakland, SD, Dallas, Pittsburgh minus Big Ben, to name a few.

They're halfway through a real cup-cake six game stretch in their schedule. Of course, only the Bungles could mess this up, so that's why they play the games, even games against the rest of the NFC East/ AFC West that our division gets to feast on this year. Weeks #16 and #17 of AFC North football will decide a lot of things - will Lewis be back? will Ben be back? will Polamalu be back? will the Bungles take advantage of a soft schedule and injured division rivals or be themselves? The AFC North probably won't send three teams to the playoffs again - too many injuries - but seems certain to send two teams. Just which two?

Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

Two big advantages for the Colts

The first tiebreaker for the Colts and Bengals/Steelers is conference record. We only have 3 losses in conference while the Bengals have 4 and the Steelers have 5. The second tiebreaker is record versus common opponents, and the Steelers lost to the Browns and Titans and the Bengals have lost to the Browns and Dolphins. Right now our record versus common opponents with the Bengals is 3-1 versus 2-2 for the Bengals with the only game remaining between us 2 being the Chiefs for us, who the Bengals beat. For the Steelers the common opponents record is 2-1 versus 1-2 with the Browns left for the Steelers and the Titans left for us. If it comes down to a tie for either of those teams, we will more than likely win, barring a complete meltdown versus the Chiefs or Titans. We need two more wins and we are in.

Yep I was about to come in here and point out pretty much everything PacersHomer said. In the event of a tie, every scenario currently favors the Colts.

One big disadvantage the Colts have is that they have Houston two of the last three weeks. Even if Houston has the AFC wrapped at that point I still think they play for the win in both of those.

Assuming we beat Kansas City and Tennessee, which isn't a huge assumption although Tennessee might be tough, the worst we could end with is 5 losses in the conference which would at least tie with the Steelers, and beating Tennessee would give us the tiebreaker over them. Of course, if the Steelers haven't lost another AFC game it means they beat they beat the Bengals but also had a 10 win season. I find it hard to imagine the Steelers having much luck next week in Baltimore though.

If we win on Sunday against Detroit, the Texans games will not factor into whether we make the playoffs or not, assuming we beat the teams we definitely should. It might matter for seeding, but not for the playoffs.

We can go 10-6 because Houston will probably rest guys in the final game when they're here. So we can win that game. We may lose one more game at Houston

You guys are lucky you've avoided the Texans this long. They'll probably give you the last game. I'm hoping Baltimore does the same for us, although with the way we (Bungles) are playing right now I think we can beat anyone. Dalton's yet to beat the Rat Birds or Stealers so he's due. Sounds like Ben might be back sooner then expected which is a good thing cause I don't want to hear any excuses when we go into Pittsburgh and woop that ***.

If we lose to the Broncos in the wild card, I hope that we don't see a mass of fans who are neutral on the outcome because of being happy for Peyton, yet I fear that will be the case. I'll be just as ticked if we lose to the Broncos as I would be if we lost to the Pats, Steelers, etc.

I am starting to get genuinely riled up when I see folks come into bars with Broncos gear on now in Indy. I hope they didn't let the door hit them on the way out.

And you know they'll come limping back when Peyton is done in a few years and Luck is entering the prime of his career. Then they will act like they were "Colts fans" all along.

Yes, that is what angers me the most, and it is not like the connections to those Colts are gone. Freeney is here, Mathis is here, Wayne is still a top 5 receiver in the NFL for crying out loud.

Honestly, there's a lot at stake for Wayne's legacy over the next two years, IMO, he's already the greatest WR the Colts have ever had, yes I put him above Marvin because Reggie has always produced more in the postseason, plus I just like him better. Marvin was a cold asshat. But the real wild card is this, if over the next two years, the Colts can keep "building the monster" so to speak and somehow take home another super bowl (again I'm way out there I know, but bear with me), and Reggie is still a productive, number 1 receiver when that happens, doesn't he suddenly enter the conversation for greatest Colt of all time? I mean the commitment he demonstrated to the fans and to this franchise this summer is pretty incredible. He's probably my personal favorite Colt of all time at this point.

It's pretty impossible to have any sort of conversation about that when another Colt was the league MVP four times.

Reggie is great, regardless of what happens in the rest of his career, but he can't touch Peyton in that argument. Nobody could.

But on my personal favorite list? Yes, he is unquestionably up there. Neck and neck with Edge after what has transpired this year.
