Default Using Advanced stats to compare this year and last year.

    2011 PG: George Hill - PER: 15.7
    vs.
    2012 PG: George Hill - PER: 15.5

    2011 SG: Paul George - PER: 16.5
    vs.
    2012 SG: Paul George - PER: 12.8

    2011 SF: Danny Granger - PER: 18.6
    vs.
    2012 SF: Gerald Green - PER: 9.2

    2011 PF: David West - PER: 17.8
    vs.
    2012 PF: David West - PER: 16.2

    2011 C: Roy Hibbert - PER: 19.3
    vs.
    2012 C: Roy Hibbert - PER: 12.6

    2011 Sixth Man : Tyler Hansbrough - PER 14.7
    vs.
    2012 Sixth Man : Tyler Hansbrough - PER 17.8

    2011 Born Ready: PER 7.0
    vs.
    2012 Born Ready: PER 12.0

Although PER is a flawed stat, this would say.

Hill and West are essentially the same last year and this year.

Hibbert and George relied the most on Granger for spacing or whatever that allows them to do better.

The drop from Granger to Green is absolutely huge.

    Tyler is better this year.

Born Ready is better this year, but still not good enough. He's bad on the defensive end.

    And finally, DC...

    2011 Darren Collison - PER 13.6
    vs.
    2012 Darren Collison - PER 18.4

It's early in the year, but it's all interesting to me so far. All the advanced stats say our defense is as good or better than last year. And that offensively we are terrible losing 2 of our 5 best offensive players in Granger and Collison.

I dont like PER much but it is a useful tool if you use it right. If I am going to use an advanced stat offensive and defensive ratings are the best IMO. I also really like just the basic efficiency rating along with WS.

In general I agree, but considering PER also fit the eye test and what I see every game, I thought it'd be useful here.
