Hibbert and Hill for Irving and Varejao
Hibbert and Lance for Manu, Blair and a 1st

Manu is expiring and washed up vs his contract.
Blair has been mentioned in trade rumors.

Spurs having a Hibbert and Duncan twin tower line up to compete against the Lakers!

Being disengaged is more a mental than physical issue. I don't think hibbert's struggles are due to him not practicing hard enough.
Pretty much the story of Roy's career, but he's now taken it to new heights. He has the worst body language on the whole team.

The slow start seems to have really affected him. Last season he was a great "rah rah" guy, really getting into it and so on. Definitely seems to be more dejected this season, especially when shots aren't falling.

We need him to go back to being aggressive, getting blocks, show some fire out there big fella!

Maybe he realizes since there is no longer a true Center picked for the All Star game last year may have been his only time.

Just for comparison, JJ Hickson is starting for Portland at Center and is averaging 11.3 ppg, 11.9 Rebs. He's making 4 million this year and is only 24. Portland lost, but gotta feel like they won, really.

Yeah but Hickson is really a PF. Portland is trotting out two PFs. They should have a difficult time with bigger and stronger centers (Howard, P Gasol, M Gasol, Jefferson, Bynum, Cousins, and Hibbert)

Yeah but Hickson is more of a PF. The blazers are basically trotting out two PFs. They will get punished by teams with bigger and stronger centers (Howard, P Gasol, M Gasol, Jefferson, Bynum, Cousins, and Hibbert).

Nothing really new here, but Hibbert makes Hollinger's early disappointments list:

    http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story...according-plan

    Roy Hibbert, Pacers

Say, didn't you used to be an All-Star? Hibbert's vanishing post game has been the biggest disappointment in the wretched, stinking train wreck known as the Indiana offense this season, one that ranks 29th in efficiency after Tuesday's depressing 74-72 home loss to Toronto. (Featuring stalwarts like Jose Calderon and Andrea Bargnani, the Raptors entered the game ranked 25th in defense.)

The alleged focal point of the attack, Hibbert is averaging 8.4 points on 37.8 percent shooting. Combined with his pathetic total of 11 free throw attempts on the season, his TS% is a brutal 38.6. Most embarrassingly, he is 7-foot-2 and has made fewer than half his shots inside five feet.

Those fingertip misses are sure to go in soon, right?

I will say, Roy's began to look a little more like himself in the post, backing the defender in and attempting turn around hook shots and running hooks. He's a very good center and is one of the best in the league.

We NEED him to step it up ASAP because if he's not dominating, down we go!

He had a really nice move last night when he ran right by Bargs and laid it in. He needs a few moments like that to get some rhythm tonight, and the Bucks don't have anyone to stop him.

EDIT: And we don't need him to dominate. Just not to be terrible.

Do we really want to go down this particular road again though?

Basically Roy's collapse should have surprised no one. We all knew he was mentally fragile. He's damaged goods and literally anything you can get for him, you should take. Brandan Wright and future picks from Dallas sounds great.

I think Hibbert's contract is the reason we're paying George a max 16 million a year contract. I think Hibbert makes like 14 million a year? Had we let him go to Portland, I don't think we'd be paying George as much. Maybe 12-14 million a year, which to me is kinda reasonable for a guy of his caliber.

I know when he's on his game he's great but I am just so done with Roy.

The 'psyche' problems, the poor body language, the consistent inconsistency, calling out teammates, demanding the ball in press conferences instead of the actual game, poor rebounding, defensive liability against stretch bigs, terrible hands, continually getting punked by point guards blocking him, physically incapable of going up strong, setting weak screens, horrible finisher for his position...it's just a mess.
    On the Lance bandwagon

What has one to do with the other? PG was getting a max contract either way.

Calling Hibbert's contract an "albatross" is just weird when a) he has at most 2 seasons remaining; and b) there's a huge demand for centers in the NBA, didn't you notice? I mean guys like Bynum and Oden still get contracts despite being physically done.

I'll bet we can trade Hibbert easily if we want to, and maybe even get someone useful back in the bargain.

Hibbert has what, 2 yrs/28 million dollars left? I get that centers are in high demand, but with how Hibbert looked this year I would consider it incredibly optimistic to think we could get a ton of value back for him.

I would drive them to the airport so fast
Hibbert: "Yay, ice cream! Wait... you passed the exit... The exit's back there... Hey, the exit is behind us."
Hill: "We're not getting ice cream, you idiot."

Not a ton of value, no. But a young/less proven player + someone's less bad contract? Probably.

Old thread, judging by the time he was posted I'm thinking that was around the time of Granger's first injury where Hill and West literally carried our offense for a few months until PG broke out.
