Default Let's Look on the Brightside!

This is not a thread to tell people to calm down. However it is a thread designed to highlight whatever Brightside there is regarding the Pacers rough start.

These are the things I've noticed that should give us some hope:

    1. The East is still wide open. The Bulls are only a game ahead with an unimpressive 4-3 record. Boston, another tem the Pacers are supposed to be battling it out for the second seed are 4-3 as well. Even the Heat have 2 losses. There's plenty of games left to be played. I don't think the Knicks will end the week undefeated and I don't think that the Bucks are the best team in the Central division either.

    2. Hibbert has been terrible in the last 6 games and the Pacers still had a chance to win 3 of their 4 losses. Eventually he'll have a good stretch of games. He always goes through at least one slump each season. He's just decided to get have one at the start of the season this time.

    3. All 4 losses have come on the road. 5 of their 7 games have been played on the road. Eventually they'll play 39 more games at home and I could see them winning at least 28-30 of those games. Also they were a good road team last year and they should be able to win at least 18-21 games on the road at the very least.

Those are the three that came to me today. What Brightside do you see?

Who would you say has played well so far, West and Hill most likely? Possibly Paul and Tyler. Lance relative to before. That's about it at best. Yet we are 3-4 with all close games except the Spurs. Plus, Danny is out.

Pretty poor play, but 3-4 record? We will pick up our play and the record too eventually most likely.

Despite Roy's slow start offensively, he is ranking in the top 5 in the league in offensive rebounds. CRASH THEM BOARDS Big Dog!

The Raptors played a 3 OT game last night, that has to help the pacers tonight.

I thinbk the best thing that could happen tonight is the Pacers win easily. (I know an easy win is always the best thing right? well sometimes a close game is good too though

Also, Lowry, Alan Anderson (who has been playing surprisingly well for the Raps) and Landry Fields are all injured for the Raps. Calderon and Lucas are going to have a really hard time against Hill.

Look for Hill to spend a lot of time in the post today against Lucas

We're struggling so much EARLY in the season, and have not only had a chance to win every game (except SA) but we have a serious chance to be peak at the right time (March/April)

Call it blind optimism or hope & faith, but I think this team IS going to figure this thing out. It may take 10 games. Hell, it may take close to 20, but I don't expect the players to perform as poorly as they are now. This rush to judgement on Frank Vogel seems laughable to me considering the staff he had when he pulled this team from the ashes 2 seasons ago. Frank will adjust and bring the ship home!

    Bright side to me...
    • The team is playing better on the offensive end every game.
    • Frank and the coaching staff are scrambling for a fit instead of insisting the line-up they put out is right.
    • Lance might be 2nd round gold... Hopefully not the "Fools" variety.
    • Hey, better to be staggering out the gate in a marathon than stumble and never recover... I guess!
    • Danny might even return... You never know, it could just be 3 months!

    You want brightsides?

For the first time in 5+ years, our expectations were actually HIGH for this team. Our team is likable, young, and not weighed down with drama and bad attitudes/contracts.

    Lance.

    Tyler.

David West, looking STRONG after surgery. Just shows he was at 80% or so last season, if you ask me.

    George Hill earning that money.

Lot to like/be optimistic about going forward, as frustrating as the start to the year has been.

If we can stay in the playoff hunt until Danny gets back that is all I care about. Look at it way, we get to turn Paul George into a man. Lance is also getting a chance of a lifetime and is excelling We are not going to be anything unless George turns into a monster. What better way to do that then get him the reps, he is a smart player and is going to learn what works and what doesn't. Its only a matter of time people.

Wow, you made several great points! I especially like the one about Frank. I think we've had 3 different starting lineups so far and each game the bench rotation has been different. I don't think he'll be making out any Hockey substitutions from now on and leaving at least 1 if not 2 starters on the floor at all times is what we can expect until Danny gets back. Frank is trying to adapt and "course correct" his offensive game plan and I think it will work well enough to keep this team in the thick of the playoff hunt until Danny returns.

but, to be honest, we havent really played any of the upper echelon of teams yet, but the spurs, so in all , we should have a better record, if we are supposedly in talks of being a top team this year, even without Granger, i wish we could get a true franchise player!!

I'm glad we get to see Paul go head to head against mostly SFs and don't have to rely on him to be the second best ball handler in starting unit. I think playing alongside Lance could really help Paul.

Obviously Lance and Hill have been bright spots too

Based on the game last night, are you sure about the first two?

And we sure could use SOMEONE who moved without the ball...

Believe me... I thought the exact same thing last night. Right now, I guess the bright side is that there is a game tonight so we don't have to think about that horrible loss for more than 22 hours.

We've had a pretty brutal schedule to start, we've played more games than anyone, and 5 of 8 have been on the road.

We've been in most of these games and have only lost by a few points except the SA debacle.

We are 4th in the league scoring defense and 2nd in rebounding.

    It's fixable.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

The Colts have Andrew Luck and is currently the big story in Indy so the casual fan is not following the Pacers collapse yet.

At least the Pacers didn't select Royce White with their draft pick.
