Thread: 2012-2013 NCAA Basketball Thread

Yeah I was looking at a bunch of arenas' supports and the Assembly Halls both had safer ones. It's a safety issue for players and anything possible needs to be done to protect them. 2 All-American candidates have been injured by them. If two NBA All-Stars were hurt by something so trivial Stern would fix it immediately.

just came on ESPN, Noel tore his ACL, out for the year obviously. Honestly, that's not that awful of news anymore, compared to the alterntive.

Pretty awful news though when you consider the timing. Also, 2 to 3 weeks til surgery, he must have some decent swelling going on.

hope this doesn't come off as insensitive, but I wonder if Noel's grades are in shape to stay if he wantd

I feel bad for the guy- that's a a very tough break.

He will go into the draft regardless, I think. It's all about getting past the rookie deal to the real money, as long as you're still picked in round 1. College is the last place he wants to be, even one day more than necessary.

You think someone will draft him this year?

    He will drop pretty hard.

I saw where someone said he would still go top 5, top 10 at worst.

I also saw where he would still go top 5. The ACL injury doesnt scare away teams due to advance techniques. I would love to see him come back to UK, but I doubt that will happen.

He seems to be in good spirits:

Most UK basketball players actually attend class and get decent grades. There are very few exceptions anymore (Daniel Orton was one who quit attending the day he could get away with it). The kids may not plan on staying, but Cal makes them go to class or they dont play.

I have never really bought into his basketball skill set on the offensive end. Maybe seeing a guy brick free throws at a Shaq-like rate (53%) is what turns me off. It just seems in the limited times I've seen him that he has a Dennis Rodman level of offensive moves, and is just relying on sheer athletic ability. The defensive skills are obvious though.

But maybe it's just me. I have not watched much Ky basketball this year, since what I have watched really did show how the lowest BB IQ I have ever seen can be applied to playing the game that I love in a way that it should never be played.

This has been a difficult season for sure. Last year's team was special indeed- this year's team was starting to put together a little run before last night's debacle.

No chance he drops out of the top 10. I hate to beat a dead horse, but even with the injury, I'd take him over Cody Zeller without thinking twice.

No kidding if he dropped outside of 10 I would be so ****** if the Pacers didn't trade a Granger type package for him.

If I am a GM I take him #2 second only to Ben McLemore right now Injury and all. High upside guy and very little risk of being a flop. This is of course only if the doctors give him the ok and if it's just an ACL I cant imagine them not.

Hell if I'm the Cavs I'm still taking him #1.

I wish we had the chance to draft an injured Noel instead of Miles freaking Plumlee.

Who knows, maybe we can double down on the Plumlees and get another in this draft.

Not a Kentucky fan, but I really feel for Noel. Hate seeing great players getting hurt like this.

Hell, I'd rather have either one of the other two Plumlees. Of course, I'd rather have none.

So, Wiscy player draws a questionable charge, celebrates for like a full minute, then moves along the baseline before the inbounds and immediately turns it over. As the camera panned to him he shouted "****!"

    Overtime.

Northwestern gave OSU quite a battle, but couldn't execute down the stretch.

This ia one of the worst overtimes I've ever seen. So many poor plays by both teams.

Wiscy goes down. The importance of the IU/MSU game just got kicked up a notch.

The announcer kept raving about what a smart play he'd made by keeping his heels off the ground, as if he somehow realized in about half a second that doing that would mean his feet would be on the restricted area arc. Never mind that it shouldn't have been a charge anyway because he was still moving when he took the contact.

Welp, MSU and IU are probably the only two with a realistic shot of taking this dog fight outright. Tuesday is the biggest game of the Tom Crean era to date.
