Went to George Washington-Kansas State today. I am a GW alum, we start 3 freshman and are picked by most to finish 14/16 in the Atlantic 10. Kansas State won the game by 3. They are probably going to struggle in conference play though.

I've probably watched that video 25 times trying to make sense of it. I can't do it. The ball didn't slip. He didn't try to stop his motion. I just don't get it.

While it is no sure thing and realignment is a stale topic, hypothetically, a 12 team league of the 7 non-football Big East teams (Villanova, Georgetown, Marquette, St. John's, Providence, Seton Hall, & DePaul) along with Butler, Creighton, Xavier, Dayton, and St. Louis is a pretty damn good basketball league.

The idea of Butler making such a short stay in the A-10, which is already a pretty good league as it is, is tough to imagine but I'd think they (and the rest of the aforementioned schools) would jump at this.

Northwestern's Drew Crawford's out for the year with a torn labrum in his shoulder. So maybe Purdue'll beat em.

You just kind of have to shake your head when the next thing that ruins Northwestern's chances at the tourney happens.

Report that Texas guard Kabongo is going to get a year ban for possibly retaining an agent and holding workouts after his freshman season.

    In completely unsurprising news...

    http://ucla.scout.com/2/1250943.html

UCLA is currently leaning toward replacing Ben Howland as its head basketball coach, and he could be let go before the end of the season, according to sources.

There is also an indication that UCLA has taken preliminary steps in investigating potential coaching candidates.

The tipping point came a few weeks ago, after UCLA had lost three of five games at the end of November and beginning of December.

Sources are indicating that booster and donation support of Howland has diminished considerably so far this season, and that has been critical in this development.

This is not to say that it's completely certain that UCLA will fire Howland, however. As long as Howland remains the coach, there is always the possibility that he could turn around the season and be successful enough to make it implausible for the UCLA administration to fire him.

Insiders have indicated that UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero has taken a fairly hard line in his opinion of the state of the basketball program, and that he is expressing a strong sense of urgency to re-establish UCLA as one of the perennial powers in college basketball. The indication is that, if Howland is let go, Guerrero intends to aggressively pursue some of the top coaching candidates in the college basketball world.
Only part that surprises me even a bit is that they'd fire him before the year's even up. Start the Brad Stevens rumors.

A couple things seem to make me say no to this.

They are not a good rebounding team. They also don't have a ton of post scoring. for all the talk at the start of the season of this being a new style of team for Beilein, they are still dominated by their perimeter players. Which is fine, but I can't say they are the "most complete" team in the country.

Tough to give that to anyone but Duke at the moment.

23 games, now, but either way, I wonder if he will try to return to to Texas or if he will just jump in the draft....

And so it begins. The internal bashing of each other in the Big Ten arrives today. Michigan State and Minnesota in a dog fight, and I fear Indiana/Iowa will be no different. This is going to be an epic season in the B1G.

I just realized that Kentucky is unranked, while Minnesota is number 9. Won't last forever, but I'm sure Tubby Smith is happy.

Perhaps, but I guarantee you 99% of UK fans are happy that he is gone.

I can further guarantee you that Kentucky will advance further in the NCAA tournament than Minnesota will.

I'd take that bet. This UK team has the collective basketball IQ of a potted plant. They may be physically skilled but I don't see them doing any damage whatsoever in the tourney. They'll be schooled by some team with hyphens in their school name with short guys who nail 3's and run backdoor cuts.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)
