I will take this a step further. We look like a Super Bowl team! As long as the game is close in the 4th quarter, Luck can beat anybody

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

A WR will never win the MVP in the NFL. Not unless they manage to have an AMAZING season under two different QBs. Otherwise the QB just gets the credit. Look at Brady winning over Moss.

Hate to burst the Colts fans bubble, but there is no way in hell he gets it over Ryan/Rodgers/Manning/Brady

Yeah, he won't win it for sure. But it's tough to argue about his impact if the Colts make the playoffs. Unless you think the addition of Samson Satele has just instantaneously made our offense that much better.

I don't think the Colts look like a playoff team, but that's what makes this season's story so compelling. I can't think of a more overachieving season in Pacers/Colts history than this one. We have a real shot at the playoffs, and that's crazy.

I know you can argue its he's fault for being injury prone or its never a guarantee, but if Schaub was healthy last year he not only would have won against the Bengels (which we did anyway) but he would have also beat the Ravens and had a good chance against the Patriots and possibly Giants. Lets face it, if healthy we could have won the Super Bowl last year, no doubt...

Nah, I think what last year showed is that there's not a huge difference between Schaub and his backup. That team is built around Foster, the o-line, and the D. Schaub's not going to have much of an impact on how deep you do or don't go. Just like with Cutler in Chicago.

This is true. If he was truly MVP great at this point, some of his stat lines would need to be better, completion percentage, tds, lower interceptions, higher rating, etc, to compete with Peyton, Eli, Brady, and Ryan who have their teams positioned as true Super Bowl contenders. Sure he might be the best player on the most overachieving team and the best story, but that doesn't mean he the best player period.

Seem to be mistaking Offensive player of the year with MVP. Colts are on pace to win 8 more games than last year. WITH getting rid of most of their skill players. That a huge value Luck is contributing.

I don't agree with that, I agree that the team is built on the run game, o-line and d, but I think Schaub is a lot better then Yates. Schaub is a good QB, you cant lead the league in passing one year if you aren't. Sure he's not elite but, hes still about the 10th best QB in the league, better then average. Yates while a very nice backup is nothing more and benifited from our foundation. I also don't agree that Schaub is not gonna impact how for we go very much, in fact I think it's quite the opposite... We have a great foundation, but Schaub is the key to going from being the 2001-2012 Ravens to being a championship team. The rest of the team doesn't really have weaknesses, can Schaub avoid being the Achilles heel?

Look at those first-round AFC matchups? Wouldn't that be a boat-load of fun!
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

I get what you're saying about this year to last, but at the same time, that thinking kind of penalizes a guy like Aaron Rodgers doesn't it? The Packers went 15-1 last year, so they could only improve by 1 win. What else would he have to do if he blows everybody else out of the water with his stats?

don't know which AFC you are watching but 9-7 will get it done most likely, Detroit? what has made them look un beatable?
On the other hand, 9-7 will probably be third place in the AFC North. The Bengals still have three games to play against the NFC East. I don't fully understand their 4-game losing streak. (Even when they're actually a good team, they're still the Bungles!) so they can still find their way back to 9-7 again this year. In fact, with three NFC East games in the next six, along with three AFC West games that don't involve the Broncos, a six game winning streak is not out of the question as they get to the really soft part of their schedule.

I would have had them at 10-6 prior to their Miami/ Cleveland mistakes. And with Ray Lewis going down, the Ravens will surrender the #2 seed and AFC North eventually so I would now move that rematch to favor the Bengals so 10-6 is still not out of the question. There could well be a three team tie going into week #15 in the AFC North. I've got the Steelers winning two, and Ravens and Bungles splitting. Would they drop out of the playoffs at 9-7? Maybe. But if you want a Wildcard, you better plan on winning ten games or sweat it out on the last day of the season.

I guess Andy Dalton should have been a MVP candidate last year, too

    lol. Wow.....

Heck, the NFC matchups are awesome too. NY-GB would be a huge because Eli smacked them around twice in the playoffs at GB, so the Packers would certainly like to return the favor in the Meadowlands. SF and Seattle are both two teams that like to pound it, plus Harbaugh and Carroll clearly don't like each other because of their Stanford-USC days against each other.

    In summary, you'd have:

    1) Peyton Manning facing his old team.

    2) The two most successful teams of the 2000's playing against each other. A chance for Pittsburgh to get some revenge on Brady-Belichick for the 2001 and 2004 defeats.

    3) The last two Super Bowl champs in NY and GB. GB would have a chance to beat NY at home in the playoffs after Eli beat them at Lambeau twice in route to his Super Bowls.

    4) A matchup of two teams from the same division who play the same style. Their head coaches don't like each other because of their USC-Stanford days.

Yeah, that would be a fun weekend.

As far as the Colts making the playoffs is concerned; let's see what happens on Thursday in Jacksonville. That game is the difference between being one game over .500 or three games over .500. Those road division games have always made me nervous, I don't care how bad the teams are. We certainly lost some of those games in the Manning era, so by no means can we pencil this in as a win. I think the Colts win, but it will be tough.

One of these four: Bal, Pit, Ind, or Cin won't make the AFC playoffs. Whoever wins the NFC East should forfeit their automatic berth and let the team excluded from the AFC take their slot.

I don't think the Colts will make it, but how frustrating would it be if Peyton, who really didn't play that great in some of the playoff games we had him in, went out and torched us. I love Peyton as much as the next guy but there were a few playoff stinkers in there. Not that he played horrible but it was a buzzkill after he had killed it in the regular season.

I think the Colts are the only team in the NFL with a winning record but losing on overall points against their opponents. We are in excellent shape in terms of record, but I expect things to turn down soon. Starting with the next game.

I see no reason why we'd suddenly start losing. Sure some opponents we won't win against (NE/Hou), but we are playing better and better every week. Our o-line is actually playing much better than it was before, we're running the ball well, Luck is getting more and more experience. We just need our defense to get healthy again and I think we're more than capable of getting to the playoffs, especially since we're up by 2 games against the rest of the AFC as is.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

I think we definitely have a shot, and we are in position to do so if we keep it up, but as we know in this league, there's no guarantee that will happen. Still gotta play the games. Playing in NE, and two games against Houston will not be a walk in the park.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.
