Thread: Ever watch something else when a Pacers regular season game is on?

  1. #1

Default Ever watch something else when a Pacers regular season game is on?

Anyone watching the Saints/Eagles game tonight instead of the Spurs game? Flipping back and forth between the two?

What about when the NFL playoffs roll around? Would you watch a playoff game over a Pacers regular season game?

Any shows you have to watch live that you'd choose over the Pacers?

Or is it P.O.E. (Pacers Over Everything)?

Things I'd watch over the Pacers regular season games (flipping to FS Indiana to check the scores during commercials, of course):

    -Arizona Cardinals regular season games
    -any NFL playoff game
-super juicy NFL regular season matchups

No. I don't even turn on my tv for anything else.

If IU is playing I will watch them instead. I have an advantage, though. I have two dvd/harddrive recorders that I use when there is more than one program I want to see, that are scheduled for the same time.

Only if I start recording the Pacers game, so I can rewind it if I miss any action.

I always watch the pacers live - I can DVR anything else. Altough I am glad there is not a game on election night, because that probably would be the only exception.

I cannot DVR the whole Pacers game and then go back and watch it as if it were live. I always have to know the score right away and then I can go back and watch the game. Only thing I do sometimes is start watching the game about 45 minutes in and then I can catch up to live action by about midway through the 4th

I like to do this to. Lets you skip commercials but not get that feeling of "This game is already over". The problem though is when a friend texts you the results while you're just beginning the 4th qtr. Or if you didn't extend the recording time enough for 2 OT's (happened to me for the Kings game).

It's P.O.E. for me. I've missed too many games over my lifetime, I'm trying to make up for that this season. The only time I'm watching anything else is if there is another TV around, or some national emergency just happened. I hate most other sports, so I would rather sit through two overtimes to see the Pacers lose, than even hear about wtf Luck did to win the Colts game yesterday.

For the record, this is most annoying because, as an employee of Speedway gas station, I'm allowed to wear a Speedway-issued Colts-centric T-shirt on Sundays to work. This is because the convenience stores of Speedway are the official somethingsomething of the Indianapolis Colts. My annoyance comes from not knowing what happened during any game, yet being asked about it at work. NOW, if I could wear Pacers stuff every time there was a home game, or even just on Saturdays or Sundays, that would make everything 100x better.

Oh, but I was working yesterday, and was wearing my Pacers watch and wristband at work, and a man came in and, after checking out, asked me if I was a huge fan of the Pacers. I told him I was, showed him my accessories, and he gave me his business card. He told me to email him saying I worked there, and he would get me some tickets. He's the Chief Operating Officer for PS&E and he came into MY Speedway and offered free tickets to ME.

Just a random note, but let the above state that, I don't care what day it is or what's going on, I am 199% Pacers Over Everything.

I try to do it this way, but usually have to wait too long. A number of times it's happened that I'll be into the 3rd quarter at around 1am or so, and I'll pop on here to comment about a play or player only to see headlines of the end-game results.

Pacers Over Everything. I usually stop whatever I'm doing to watch the Pacers game and try not to miss a minute of it. Every other sport is boring to me...

Very seldom will they be pre-empted for something else. But if they are, I will at least watch a quarter or half. Except for the West coast games, I seldom see any of those since they start so late.

There was a brief, and very decisive, and altogether unprecedented, outburst of genuine officiating, and it was directed at the best player in the world, and that, my dear young person, simply is not done."

I will always watch a Colts game over a Pacer game. There are only 16 of those and thus any given Colts game is much more important than any given Pacer game.

But that of course only applies on a Sunday afternoon game or a Monday nighter.

I usually go with Pacers only, with the exception of an Ohio State game. Even then, that happens maybe 2 times a year, if that.

Otherwise, I'll watch the Pacers live and follow anything else on my laptop. I can stream from my receiver to my laptop, so I'll usually put the NFL games on the small screen and Pacers on big.

Tonight, however, I won't be watching a meaningless game. Talking about NO/Philly. They both suck, doesn't really impact anything I care about (Colts) and neither should be a factor in the playoff discussion. Pass.

Especially this early in the season. I get excited every day there is a game.

Not for saints eagles. I occasionally DVR the game if I am busy. Normally pacers get first priority on the TV. I will watch the game in my bedroom if 2 things are recording on the DVR.

Many times, I prefer to record the game, do something else until 8/8:30 or so, and blast through the commercials until I catch up to the game live at the 5 minute mark or so. Some times, I am forced into doing that by the wife.

Sometimes work gets in the way. Honestly, you can crank out a game in less than an hour by skipping the commercials if there weren't too many foul shots. As long as I finish the game the same night it was played before I go to bed, I don't care.

I envy all of you with DVR's. Especially if you get to watch the games in HD on top of that.

A Bruins hockey game is definitely an exciting option, but usually I watch both games just not necessarily live. But hockey took itself out of competition this year I'm afraid.

    Pacers.

If IUBB is playing I will flip back and forth. If either game is close, I'll keep it on the close game and flip back during a commercial.

If both games are close, the universe explodes.

I usually watch several games at a time, and i might focus on some other game, especially if the Pacers game is a blow out.

If games are won and lost on a calculator and piece of paper, then why do we bother to play them?

Always the Pacers. I don't have DVR and it's hard to find recent Pacer games online.

If I have a test to study for, I will study while watching. If I have a paper to write, generally I will write the paper and watch the game at the same time.
