Sorta qualifies, in the same way that Jerryd Bayless was a Pacer, but Kawhi Leonard had 19/7 and 5 steals. I like Hill, but we lost that deal in a fairly big way. Bird had to have him though, and that's a major fault in a GM. Pritchard's had his pet projects as well but not to that degree.

Especially with Danny's knee, easy and cheap replacement. Oh well, past is the past.
    1. Leonard wouldn't be as good here as be is with the Spurs. Diff coaching, less minutes to be had at his position, and he wouldn't be playing on the same court as Parker, Duncan, and Ginobili
    2. So you'd rather have an out of place DC, no backup Pg, nd Leonard barely playing last yr as opposed to a clutch and steady G.Hill?

I feel that both teams got what they needed. It's easy to look good when you're playing with other star players taking up the defensive attention. But all that aside, the Pacers have played at their highest level in yrs with Hill being a part of this team. We needed some veteran leadership last yr, not another rookie SF

That trade was a win-win for both teams. I think that it is fairly uncommon to see that in the NBA now. Most trades end up being one big asset for many little assets and financial relief. This was a great trade for both teams. Both players would have remained backups on their respective teams, but rather are both starting and playing significant roles on two of the best teams in the league. Sounds like a great deal for both.

I love Hill's consistency (when healthy) and his veteran leadership. He has been a playoff tested player for being so young and brings with him a maturity for other players to respect. He doesn't turn the ball over much, plays very good defense, and he gets us into our sets with our bigs better than any other player on our team. GHill means a lot to this team, IMO.
"Your course, your path, is not going to be like mine," West says. "Everybody is not called to be a multimillionaire. Everybody's not called to be the president. Whatever your best work is, you do it. Do it well. You cease your own greatness when you aspire to be someone else."

I feel awful for Brandon Rush. He seemed to be primed for a pretty good year. I suppose it's better that it happened this year than last year.

I cant wait to see Al Harrington play for the Magic. Orlando has looked good so far. Lot of young talent there.

There's a lot of youth there. I'm not sure about a lot of young talent.

But I do know that if I were Jacque Vaughn, I'd never play Harrington once he gets healthy. They should be in full on rebuild mode. That shouldn't include Baby Al.

Also Bertans is advancing like I though he would. He is playing for Partizan now. I watched him last week and he just needs to add some weight and he will be NBA ready. His PnP offense is NBA ready. Anyone who can shoot like him is a rotation player in the NBA he reminds me of Austin Croshere type but better at dribbling and a little more athletic. The Spurs stole our lunch in that trade and I said that on draft night.

Then paying Hill 8m just compounded that mistake IMO.

Carlisle just got double T'd! It's now Jim O'Brian's team!
There are 3 Pacers from last year on the floor right now.

    Oh ****!
"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

Barbosa is looking good today, he started because Rondo got hurt yesterday, so far so good for that minimum salary player.

He's only scored in double figures 3 times this season so far. I agree though, good production for a minimum salaried player.

Yeah he is their only offense at times, Doc knows how to use him too, he runs him on screens so he can get open, things he couldn't do here.

I wonder if Barbosa was injured at all last yr during the playoffs. He looks a lot like his old self in some of these games. Outside of a few games during the regular season, Barbosa was average at best last yr.

    Barbosa's yesterdays game:

    1-6 fg... 0-1 3pt... 3-4 ft... 1 reb... 1 ast... 5 pts

Looking at those stats he'd fit right in with this Pacers team.

    Jarrett Jack yesterdays game:

    6-8 FG... 0-1 3pt... 3 Reb... 5 Ast... 12 points

    012-13 stats:

    9.2/3.2/4.2... 51% FG... 45% 3pt... 88% FT... with a 4-1 Ast to TO rate. Salary 5 mil.

Yep, too much money to have kept a hardnose no non-sense player with leadership ability.

The Pacers have had Ford, Watson, Price, Collison, Hill, and Augustin, and how's that worked out? Hill is being paid 3 mil more. Just SMH.

That weirdo with the pony tail is averaging 0.8pts and 2.7rebs this year on 14% shooting. Man, I wish he was playing for the Pacers over Ian.

    Great post!

You need to post this in the thread of "I miss last years bench players."

I wish neither was playing for the Pacers but if I had a choice I choose the guy that is making veteran minimum for one year over the guy making 4mil a year for the next four years while not been really that much of an upgrade.

I also rather have Barbosa for veteran minimum for one year than Green for 3mil for the next 3 years.

I can also come up with a big list of players that were there for the Pacers to take and they decided to go the high price way:

Reggie Evans: 1.6 mil a year.

    CJ Watson: 1mil a year.

    Blatche: 800K

    Barbosa 1.2mil

    Darko: 1.2mil

    Hinrich 4mil.

    Nate 1.1mil

    Kaman 8mil for one year.

    Mayo 4mil for two years.

    Brand 2mil

    Crawford 5mil a year for 4 years.

    Turiaf 1mil

    Ryan Hollins 1mil

    Barnes 800K

    Bayless 2mil

    Ray Allen 3mil*

    Rashard Lewis 1.3mil

    Dalembert 6mil for one year.

    Joel P 1.3mil

    AK47 9mil a year for 2 years.

    Greg S 2.5mil

    Lou 1mil

    Brewer 1mil for one year.

Note: This is just an example, I didn't take into consideration team discounts, etc.

Yeah, I understand how funny it is to read someone complain about spending, that's always complaining about the lack of spending.

I'm pretty sure you know the difference and what many of us meant by saying that, sorry but I don't feel like arguing today.
