Default Inquiry on NBA league pass mobile

I've been trying to save money lately and become more frugal with my finances. I just recently noticed how little I use my tv other then movies and sports, and decided a monthly satilite bill isn't worth it. But I still need it to enjoy the Pacers. I was wondering how good the 39.99 mobile league pass is and if its worth it. I have a galaxy phone, but would prefer to watch the games on my iPod to keep my phone free.

Has anyone had problems with it?

Well, if you live in Indy as your location states, it will be useless for watching Pacer games as they will be blacked out.
"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

I use the LP mobile quite a bit as part of my DirecTV account. But I'm out of town, so its nice for me to listen to Mark and Slick while I'm on the train, commuting home. So I use the audio portion of LP-mobile more often.

As stated above, this is not really for in-town users. I believe the LP's websites are clear that the intended users are for out-of-market games. Had the game been played tonight, I would not have been able to watch it on my iPhone because it was to have been shown locally on whatever channel the Bulls have a contract with.

I know there are ways to fool to them about where you are to circumvent the blackouts, if you really feel good about lying in order to steal the broadcast rights.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

My location information is false by around a year now. I used to be a season ticket holder, but moved down here to the southern part of indiana for a job. Would my access to league pass to be subject to the same blackouts experienced by those in my hometown?

That depends on who owns the broadcast rights where you are. Are you in "another team's" territory or in a place that isn't claimed? The easiest way to figure that out is whether or not Fox Sports Indiana is the default regional sports network in your satellite dish package.

If you can watch the games on TV now without league pass, then it's probably going to block it out over league pass broadband or mobile.

I was more tolerant of this blackout crap with NBA LP until I realized that with other major sports it's not that restrictive (short term blackouts as opposed to permanent ones).

    Agreed. It's an absolute joke.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know how long the Pacers' TV contract with FS Indiana runs?

Yeah, I really don't understand blacking out archived games. NFL rewind cost me half LPBB did and I can watch ANY game once it's archived, so long as MNF, SNF, or TNF is on.

As a displaced Pacer fan on Chicago, I can tell you the service works great on my iPad. My only complaint is that you can't pick the feed, which means about half the time you're stuck listening to the other team's homer announcers.

Don't forget LP mobile should also give you each team's radio broadcast. So I listen to Mark and Slick on the Metra all the time.

Yeah, the differences between the MLB and the NBA offerings is pretty stark.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!
