I'm glad they kept Ben. He has been a great addition over the summer and pre-season, and don't forget, he was the player of the year in the best conference in college basketball. They guy averaged over 20 points a game, over 4 assists and shot 45% from three in the Big East his senior year. He's no chump.

Coach Vogel says the team plans to utilize the D-League this season and will likely send Miles Plumlee, Orlando Johnson and Ben Hansbrough.

Please, for the love of all things holy, let this become past-tense.

Off the top of my head, I don't know how much Portland used the D-League under Pritch, but they did in at least one case to good effect (McRoberts.) I believe Vogel has voiced his opposition (a la Jimmy), but it infuriates me to no end that we've had this potentially very valuable resource for 5 years now and not come close to using it.
They used it a lot KP has said in the past he loves the Dleague

    Don't like they kept Ben.

I'd rather the Pacers wait till all the other teams have dropped players (especially pgs) and see if there was anything worth picking up. Of course they still can since Ben's deal is nonguaranteed.
For example, Shaun Livingston just got cut after having a decent preseason. Would have to think he'd be an upgrade.

Wow, he got cut? He played really well. Sign him right now if he's cool with being a 3rd PG, which he SHOULD be.

Would love if the Pacers signed Livingston. Been a fan of his game since he broke into the league. Perhaps I shouldn't have said "broke".

I'm kinda glad we gave Ben a chance. He can definitely shoot and even looked like he is a decent passer. Saun Livingston is somebody I wouldn't mind picking up though, especially as a 3rd string PG.

Can someone tweet Wells why Vogel is now choosing to use the D-League this season when it looked like Lance could have benefited from some experience doing the same over the last 2 seasons?

    or

Is it a coincidence that now that Bird isn't "officially" running the show that the Pacers FINALLY uses the D-League and sends Draft Picks and "end of the Bench" rookies to the D-League?

Well I think this is the most obvious reason. He is really a great player and full of perfection.

    2nd question: Nope, I think that's obvious.

1st question: D-League wouldn't be a good fit for a guy like Lance. We know he can dominate lesser opponents, we want to see him match NBA competition. Plus they wanted to keep a "parental" eye on him, I'd assume.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

Still, with his maturity last season. It would have been nice if they sent him down after the all-star break when he wasn't even playing most games.

I don't know what the rules are, but I think the player who would have benefited from the D league last year was Pendergraph coming off of his knee injury.

Nothing against Ben Hans, but if Granger is going to miss extended time, I hope we give his spot to a vet who can play. Not necessarily a wing player, since George Hill will probably get pushed to the 2 at times. Shaun Livingston would be ideal actually, since he can serve as 3rd PG and has the size to play on the wing if required.
