speaking of Stuckey... Would you still take him over Paul George this year, Kstat?
They're different types of players now, but no.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

I'm fine with PG playing the sg spot. I think he's better suited for the SF spot though.
Lance + Starting SG = Awesome

    Now really free Lance!

My NBA preview book, I think is where I read it, but it says Stuckey is a Point Guard that can't pass or a Shooting Guard that can't shoot. That may be harsh, but I'm not sure he's even a starting caliber player on a good team, at all. Nice offensive combo guard off the bench, maybe, but even then if he doesn't have the ball in his hands, I'm not sure what he gives you and if he's not 'on', I'm not sure I want the ball in his hands. If went to a team that had the luxury to have him be a back court scorer off the bench on nights he's hitting his shots, then he'd have more value as a role player. Detroit should move him, imo, no reason to keep him around, just hand the keys to B Knight, Monroe, Drummond, and whoever they are getting with a high pick next year.

Not necessarily harsh, quite a few of the great SGs fit that description to a high degree.

If they keep winning, as of late, their pick might not even be a top 10 pick. They better start slowing down, or they are going to blow getting a wing for the future.

Disagree with the first part. There's a difference between being able to pass and being able to run an offense. Stuckey can pass, he just can't run an offense.

Frankly, I'd like to see him handling the ball a bit more with Knight off the ball. Knight can run an offense, but he has to tighten up his handle. Right now he's a turnover machine, most of which come via ballhandling mistakes. Stuckey is a good temporary fix, since he's a very secure ballhandler, and we run our first string offense through Monroe anyhow.

I'm not anticipating that, but if it happens, so be it. I refuse to be upset over us winning games for a change.

Portland would easily be a top 4 seed in the west if the Pacers didnt match Hibbert. They are one defensive rim protector away from being a team that is close to a contender. But until they find a defensive anchor they are just a good team.

J.J Hickson is a really good player but he isn't a C and defiantly not a starting C at that. He has found his niche in the league dude is a beast garbage guy. I just wish all guys with his talent would realize their roles like J.J finally has.

also Batum deserves to be an all star

But the way the NBA is shifting your pg doesn't have to be able to run a traditional offense like in college or what not. That's the reason there are so many combo guards at pgs I will take the lead guard who is a basketball player and more skilled like Lance or Avery Bradley Etwuan Moore, Rodney Stuckey(when he is playing well) ect. over the AJ Price's of the world all day at pg in the NBA.

His shooting has been so inconsistent though (I believe he's had a lingering back injury that doesn't help in this respect). One game he'll get 30 points on 12 shots and the next he'll get 10 points on 16 shots. His assist numbers are way up lately though.

I never absolutely doubted that he could do it. Despite his success I still strongly dislike the route he took to get there, refusing to work as an assistant under any circumstances.

Anything that keeps him out of the booth is a win in my book, so I wish him continued success.

If so, he remembered pretty quick, because it only took him about 3 seconds to bust out laughing as he ran back down the court!

The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

I think a lot of people are overlooking the impact that Mike Malone has had. The Warriors paid big bucks to have him on the bench as the defensive coordinator and it's paying off. If the results keep up, he will not be an assistant coach next year.

Malone was Mike Brown's assistant in Cleveland and he's the guy who convinced Lebron that, in order to be a truly great player, he had to be great on defense.
