If PG could get to the line 4 times a game (so shooting 8 FTS), then he probably could avg 20.
Based on his performance in the preseason, Paul could average 20 ppg, but it would take him 19 or 20 FGA to do so. It would be better for Paul to become a more efficient user of his FGA.

Monta Ellis should be an All-Star this year. Especially now that he's in the East.

The more Paul George evolves the more he looks to me like Rudy Gay, I don't agree with what you are saying.
I've always felt Paul George is the next Rudy Gay. Nothing more, nothing less.

Not a bad comparison at all.

Based on what? That they're both 6'8" ish and are athletic? We've been playing Paul George as a SG so he plays the game more like a SG would. In fact, it is quite rare that he makes an aggressive move toward the basket. Gay, on the other hand, spends most of his time driving or slashing to the basket.

Gay fakes the shot so he can drive. George fakes the drive so he can shoot. You could make the argument that they're both strong defenders to go with it, but their offensive games are completely different.

Andre Drummond is doing a number on the thunder on the defensive end. That's putting it mildly.

4 points, 2 blocks, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist in about 6 minutes.

In a year or two, the Monroe/Drummond frontcourt should be pretty sick.

Also, James Harden is a lot better than I thought he was. i honestly believed a lot of his success came from playing with Westbrook and Durant all the time.

You're acting like he's reached his ceiling, but Paul has shown and has the desire to be a Rudy Gay type of player. Gay fakes drives and pulls up for the shot similar to what Paul does plenty of times if the lane is closed. More often than not, Gay does that.

Paul has shown flashes of being able to drive in the lane well and will only get better.

So, I don't know who you see Paul as, but realistically, he could be Rudy Gay type of player given a few more years to develop.

That's actually kind of a myth. Rudy Gay averages less FTA than the likes of Danny, Iggy, and Deng. He settles for J's far too much.

Paul has displayed his ability and willingness to improve on the drive which he can develop into how Gay does it. Even if it's to get a foul.

He has the athleticism and potential to develop into a Rudy Gay type of player, but he has the raw ability to become any kind of athletic wing that has ever lived. So you can peg him in to a model, but that doesn't work because all basketball players are unique. Rudy Gay's prerogative is to get the basket. Paul George wants to get the basket, but doesnt' force the issue if he's given a lot of resistance. I'm not saying that PG will never drive to the basket, or Gay will never pull up. But they have very different offensive styles. He's not going to have an epiphany, then suddenly morph into a different player. If he improves, it will be on a continuum, and the product will just be a better looking version of Paul George.

The Bucks are 3-0 on the road. Impressive. Brandon Jennings with 33 points 8 assists 5 rebounds 4 steaks 2 blocks 1 turnover. Damn...

Gay averages more FTA than Iguodala and Deng. Granger actually gets to the line a lot. Gay also consistently shoots over 45% from the field. He really doesn't settle for jump shots too much, at least not from what I've see.

Here's a nifty tool that shows you where their shots come from. You can see there's a massive clump 10 feet around the basket for Gay. I also am posting a link to Iguodala so you can see another guy who supposedly drives more than Gay.

    Gay:

    George:

Gay doesn't drive every time he has possession of the ball nor does he look for it. He does do a lot of shooting and fakes drives to get the shot. Similar to what Paul does. If the lane is open, he'll drive in for the dunk or get fouled. Paul does that as well and is still improving on his aggressiveness on the drive. I will say Paul isn't as thick as Gay. He's built more like Kevin Durant is so he might not try and barrel through guys, but he's long.

Also, Gay can create shots well and that's something Paul is working on.

Again, Paul is still developing. No one truly knows what his identity is yet, but I'm saying the best player he can become in a few years is Rudy Gay.

If he can put on that kind of weight and maintain his quickness, his defense against bigger guards should improve.

Lol I'll be honest, I always get these 3 stats mixed up bc I always argue that Danny gets to the line way more.

This is a good tool though! I'll def use

And I'm saying that the best player Paul George WILL become in a few years is Paul George. Also, look at the shot chart for Gay I posted in my last post.

I can respect that and I hope Paul creates his own path of stardom.

However, based on this simple highlight, you can't not say most of Gay's shots are similar to what Paul does or looks to work on. And I do watch the Grizzlies plenty of times. I'm not just basing it off of one highlight. Of course there's some differences. Paul isn't or at least is not yet a guy who can play the post and score there.

Was there a time when LeBron wasn't casually sinking shots and driving to the hoop late in the 4th? Just seems like ages ago. So reliable.

Brandon Jennings is playing like a guy who wants a max contract. He is playing like a top 3 pg in the NBA so far this year.

EDIT: Also still as mad that we didn't sign Sheved as the day he signed with the Wolves. We needed a guy with his skill set and he was available for cheap. Hill,Sheved, Lance back court rotation would be sick to watch.

The Timberwolves are 5-2 with literally 1 of their top 7 players healthy. Crazy.

I doubt the players or the staff look at it that way at all.
